Important road-safety update for e-scooter users in Ireland: from 2 October 2026, the minimum legal age to ride an e-scooter has increased from 16 to 18. This means anyone under 18 cannot legally use an e-scooter in a public place. Helmets and high-visibility clothing are also mandatory.

How much did I spend work permit and visa processing?

For context mga kabayan, I got the job when I was in Dubai. So basically, I applied in Dubai VFS and not in the Philippines, okay?😊

1.) Work permit.
I initially paid my work permit, which was 1000 Euros. And then it was reimbursed when I reported na for work here in Ireland. As far as I know, some companies will pay it themselves, pero some will ask you to pay it muna, which I think is fair enough, because what if di ka na tumuloy after ma process ang permit mo? Lugi naman ang company diba?

So what the agency did was, sila yung nag apply ng work permit ko on my behalf, tapos binigay nila sakin ang username at password ng application and then I paid it online. But as I’ve said, na-reimburse yung 1000 Euros ko.

2.) Work Visa

I paid like a total of 702 Dirhams for the visa processing. And this was not reimbursed. Others may have a different experience.

3.) Airfare

This was also not reimbursed. Actually mejo mahal yung airfare ko nun, I think it was like 4k + Dirhams because I need to add more luggage allowance and at that time, parang premium economy nalang ang available seat.

4.) Accommodation

Wala rin ako nito🤣 I know some people na kasamang accommodation sa package nila. Like magbayad sila ng monthly say like mga 300 Euros, tapos nasa isang bahay silang magkakasama. It depends sa agreement mo with the company.

My wife moved here before me, and fortunately she already secured a place, so no need na ng accommodation for me.

5.) Placement Fee

Definitely no. Pag nanghingi ang recruitment agency ng placement fee, thats a big red flag.🚩
