‼️TRANSPORT REQUEST‼️ Gull Chick DROGHEDA to RUSH CO Dublin

This Gull Chick was rescued from the McBride Train Station today and taken to Westgate Veterinary Clinic. It has a fractured leg that has been put into a cast.

It needs to get down to Hedgehog Rescue in Rush Co Dublin TODAY for its rehabilitation. Currently in Westgate Veterinary Hospital in DROGHEDA.

➡️ PLEASE: NO TIME WASTERS! It disappointing not only for us but also for poor Brian and his current elderly owners with all this chopping & changing. WE ARE NOT AN AMAZON FULFILMENT CENTRE.

Brian is an 11-year old Springer Spaniel who needs a new home rather urgently. His current owners are in their mid-eighties and can no longer manage Brian especially when one of the owners took a fall and is just out of hospital.

The elderly couple have had Brian for only 5-years as he was adopted from a dog shelter.

Brian is NEUTERED, MICROCHIPPED & VACCINATIONS UP TO DATE. He is an agreeable chap but doesn't like cats however gets on well with other dogs.

THE LITTLE SUGAR GLIDER - AN UPDATE

This story has upset us and we feel the need to speak our mind about this Sugar Glider and the breeding, selling, and keeping of exotic animals as pets.

Firstly, this little guy is now safely in the hands of a veterinary nurse who is experienced with exotic animals and knows exactly what Sugar Gliders need.

Secondly, these are wild animals that do not make good pets. They should not be pets at all. They are bred and sold purely for money without consideration for the species itself.

THE REST OF THE STORY

This little fella was dubiously procured by an individual from a breeder who went on to sell him for over €500.

The purchaser of this little fella perhaps didn't know or realise what Sugar Gliders needed so contacted DAR when Buddy here started to get depressed and stopped eating.

We were also surprised at the number of queries from people who wanted Buddy for their children and/or had no previous experience with Gliders.

PLEASE think twice about buying exotic animals. Is it really necessary and are you doing it for the welfare of the animal or for your own entertainment? From where we are standing, the only ones who benefit from having exotic animals are not necessarily the animals themselves but those in the supply chain of breeders and sellers.

The video here is of our Glider in his new home being presented with a 'treat pot' which is particularly satisfying and nutritious for Sugar Gliders. 😊
