KITTENS ABANDONED IN A PLASTIC BAG LEFT TO DIE - SAVED BY A GROUP OF YOUNG TEENAGERS 😡💔 - Sunday May 10th, 2026
_______________

It is quite fortunate that a group of teenagers passing by a disused yard on the Marsh Road Sunday evening came to the rescue of the distressed cries of very young kittens.

Dylan and his friends heard the meowing of these little ones and went over to investigate where the cries were coming from when they discovered (10) kittens stuffed into a plastic Dunnes bag.

The alarm was immediately raised, calls were made, and one of DAR's volunteers wasted no time & went over to collect the kittens. They were all bottle feeders probably just 10-days old. 😔

We have no idea who performed this callous and heartless act of cruelty. These kittens would not have survived if it wasn't for the quick action taken by the young teenagers who remained with the kittens, keeping them warm, until our volunteer arrived.

And what about the kittens' mothers? No doubt they were distressed wondering what happened to their kittens.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING? A lot of work went into caring for these kittens and a lot of heartache seeing four of them too weak to survive. CONTACT US.

There are two litters of kittens - some may be slightly older than others.

We have no idea who performed this callous and heartless act of cruelty. These kittens would not have survived if it wasn't for the quick action taken by the young teenagers who remained with the kittens, keeping them warm, until our volunteer arrived.

And what about the kittens' mothers? No doubt they are distressed wondering what happened to their kittens, they are full of milk and are at risk of mastitis, and they need immediate attention.

Whoever did this, please contact us. We'll take care of the poor mothers so they never reproduce again. ⬇️

The Stoney Lane gang are ready to go to their new homes.
We were born in a garden in Stoney Lane, Ardee last May. Our poor mum was doing her best to fight off several tom cats who were trying to hurt us 😔 DAR decided the best thing to do for us was to move the whole family into a foster home where we would be safe and warm. Our amazing mum looked after us so well. She is now neutered and living her best life as Head Mouse catcher on a farm 🙂There were three of us in the litter. Our brother has already gone to Cork and he loves his new home. Now it's our turn. My name is Petal (1st photo) I am a super friendly girl who loves attention and cuddles. I am curious and a little nosey 😁. My favourite pastime is purring and sleeping. I will need access to the outdoors when I'm older and neutered of course.
Hi my name is Lily (2nd photo) I am a quiet girl. I haven't the confidence of my sister Petal but I am also friendly when I get to know my surroundings. I can be just as nosey as my sister 😃 I am looking for a home that understands that I will need time to feel
comfortable in my new home. I promise you I will be your BF soon.
• Fully vaccinated
• Microchipped
• Treated for parasites
• Adoption fees apply

If you can offer either, or both of these lovely kittens a home please;

A LEGEND HAS LEFT US 😔 - REST IN PEACE DEAR HOLLY - Feb 2013 to Sept 2026
_______________

Very sad news. Today Holly Bolly passed away. She recently became unwell and with numerous visits to the vet, she wasn't getting any better. Today she went into kidney failure while in hospital. The kindest thing to do was to let her go and end any suffering she was bravely & quietly enduring. There was no recovering from this.

With her owners by her side, she took her last breath today, Sunday September 20th, 2026. At 13.5 years old, Holly lived a life full of adventure and definitely one full of love.

Many will remember Holly as the official doggy mascot for DAR, a role which she excelled at - greeting and meeting members of the public during numerous fundraising events she accompanied with her owners, DAR volunteers Martin & Carmel. She gave so much of herself and never objected. A pat on the head, and a sausage were more than enough for her. She didn't ask for much.

Our sincere condolences to Carmel & Martin, and Peaches who has stepped into the role as the DAR Doggy Mascot. You have big boots to fill Peaches, and your sister's spirit will always be by your side giving you advice - 'check their pockets & shopping bags for treats, bat your long eyelashes, and stare at them with your big brown eyes.'

You will be greatly missed and never forgotten dear Holly. We hold you forever in our hearts. 💔
