Ficus macrophylla f. columnaris planted in 1870 by Herman Wildpret a Swiss gardener and botanist. A gigantic tree with a large central trunk and surrounded by large adventitious aerial roots. The tree is the natural symbol of the El Jardín de Aclimatación de la Orotava (a botanical garden in La Orotava), Puerto Del La Cruz, Tenerife. The arboretum has an extensive collection of tropical and sub tropical trees and plants from South America, Africa, SE Asia and Australia.
