December 2025: we fitted 10kW of solar panels and a Sigenergy 10kW battery on a home in Co. Limerick.

This week the owner got back in touch — he wanted to show us his Electric Ireland bills and share the impact the solar panels have had on his bill.

They’ve just installed an EV charger, so the family car (~1,000 km a month) now charges straight from their own solar and battery. That same mileage in a diesel would cost roughly €104 a month at today’s €1.73/litre — about €1,250 a year, before tax or servicing.

Add in all their hot water running on electric (no gas bill), and the result speaks for itself: an electricity bill of just €8.85 for two months — while actually using more power than the year before. They’re even paid for the spare energy they export back to the grid.
