Rest in peace Brenda Fricker who struggled with her mental health as a response to her human life events. Childhood wasn't easy and later years a struggle to do things alone. Marriage bought 6 miscarriages. What voids, griefs and losses our Brenda experienced. Her story was never heard enough but her presence, voice, determination and laughter will live with us.
Rest in Peace Brenda. 💐💐💐

There is indeed a massive rise in Mental health in teens and anxiety is a side of most mental health. At Perspective, my advice is, seek help as early as possible, do not presume a child or teen will grow out of it. Anxiety will start creating unhealthy coping strategies and patterns and will keep looping until the root cause and patterns are identified.
There are so many contributions to this rise in Mental health, social pressures, loneliness (although they are connected online, this is not real connection). I am still seeing the effects of covid, Social development, being dropped overnight by friends, Self image and esteem. Life isn't as simple for our teens now.
Perspective has an anxiety programme that works or avail of the many excellent services such as Jigsaw. Either way, getting help is the key.
Anxiety part of 33% rise in youth mental health referrals More young people than ever before are seeking help from the youth mental health service Jigsaw, with referrals up 33% in the first three months of this year, compared to the same period last year.

Who Gets to Define Human Suffering? As psychiatry concedes long-standing criticisms of diagnosis, a deeper question emerges: What now justifies its authority over human suffering?

We lost our little Rosie a few weeks ago. She had been unwell since Christmas but lived a mostly healthy seventeen and a half years. 🥰
I'm not sure she knew she was a dog, she danced, smiled, wanted a new toy every outing we had, had a big understanding of everything that was going on.
She was an entertainer, barked for attention and put on a show and loved making us laugh and smile. Toys and teddies were never shared as she put her paw around one every night. She would bring toys upstairs every night and then stand at the top of the stairs in the morning, throwing from her mouth what she needed, watching them bobble down the stairs. She loved being in the middle of everything and loved people.
We miss you so much Rosie, thank you for all the memories. 🫶🫶🫶

Really like this article....exactly my sentiments.
Researchers Say We're Missing Something Important About Autism The idea of the "autism spectrum" is widely used in diagnosis, education, and public discussion.

It's not just me at Perspective!
Through the years, I have taken on students who have qualified through Dublin City University with personal lived experience and doing great work at Perspective
Lived experience does matter as you aren't talking to someone who knows it in theory, you are meeting a person who has gone through it and has learned through the wisdom of pain, how to support others
If you need to get in touch with one of the qualified Peer Support Workers, do get in touch
The above person would be a great support to any teen or person in their early 20's with similar experiences

Have you ever experienced that people can show up with lots of advice when you are going through something in life? Decisions to be made? Transitions? Changes?
Ever taken advice, or given advice that you regret?
Wrong advice can change a person's direction in life. It can take a person's power from them.
You should do this.....
If I were you......
You'd be crazy to.......
You should.....
You shouldn't......
Advice is a very slippery slope and many people have made the wrong decisions for themselves, listening to advice of others, that is ultimately not the answer for them.
As peers, we don't advise. Through relationship, people find the answers within themselves.
We understand that we haven't the right to choose what's best for another. We are trained to see that each person is entitled to their own journey, their own path of learning and growth.
They are entitled to time to resolve the issue within themselves. So to give advice? Pause.....be a person that helps a person find their own answers.
To take advice......well, the answers are in you.
Perspective teaches people to look within and find the answers within themselves. Perspective promotes deep connection with self and trust of that connection.
Obviously we have medical, financial, educational experts, that's not what I mean.
But in allowing someone to learn, grow and respond to life.....can you just facilitate in them finding their own answers?
