Who says you need to fly or drive to have an adventure in Scotland? 👀🚂🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿✨

Caledonian Sleeper & Scottish Citylink might just be a match made in heaven for exploring more of Scotland. We’ve teamed up with them to see just how easy it is to get from London to Oban on Scotlands West Coast without a car or a flight- and honestly, the journey was part of the adventure.🚂🚌

Part 1- We hopped on the caledoniansleeper from London Euston, settled into our Club Room for the night and woke up in Glasgow ready to continue our journey west with scottish citylink

There’s something very exciting about getting on a train in London and waking up in Scotland the next morning. 😴🏔️

Then it was straight onto the Citylink bus for the final leg to Oban, with some seriously beautiful scenery along the way. ☕️

And honestly, we’re already planning our next Scottish weekend adventure 👀

How is THIS hiding in the middle of Devon?! 🌿🤯

We’ve only just started properly exploring Devon, and we’ll admit… we thought most of our adventures here would involve beaches, coastal walks and seaside towns.

We definitely weren’t expecting to find somewhere like this hiding inland. 😍

📍 Lydford Gorge, Devon

This place genuinely felt like stepping into another world. Towering trees, a dramatic gorge, water rushing beneath the walkways… it gave us serious Jurassic Park vibes. 🦖🌿

Lydford Gorge is managed by the National Trust and there are actually two separate parts to explore:

🌿 The Devil’s Cauldron- this is the part you’re seeing in our video, where the trail takes you down into the gorge and along walkways beside the river.

💦 Whitelady Waterfall – a separate walk through the woodland to an impressive 30 metre waterfall.

We visited after quite a dry spell this summer, so it wasn’t as green and moss-covered as we know it can be after lots of rain. It was still absolutely beautiful, but we’d LOVE to come back when everything is at its lushest and experience the full rainforest vibes. 🌧️🌿

🎟️ Entry: £13 adults / £6.50 children, or included if you’re a National Trust member.

Safe to say, Devon is already surprising us… and we’ve barely scratched the surface!

Hidden deep within the woodland lies this natural cleft in the rock, a place wrapped in legend and quiet mystery 🤫

This cleft has been carved over centuries and cloaked in thick, velvety moss.

Walking through the towering walls that rise up to 18 metres, makes this place seem otherworldly.

Some say this hidden gorge was once a secret place of worship, giving it its name, Luds Church. ⛪️ Others believe it sheltered outlaws, even whispered to be one of Robin Hood’s hiding spots.

Foggy, shadowy, and almost silent… stepping inside feels like entering another time entirely 😮

🥾 A short, well signposted walk from Gradbach Car Park, easy to reach, yet it still feels hidden.

This walk made us feel like kids again! 🥺 Perfect for an easy UK weekend adventure!

Tucked inside a dramatic limestone gorge, the stepping stones at Chee Dale are one of the most magical spots in the Peak District ✨

This walk is perfect for beginners, mostly flat, easy to follow, and packed with views the whole way. You’ll follow the River Wye through towering cliffs, mossy rocks, and narrow paths before reaching the famous stepping stones.

📍 Start point: Millers Dale 🥾 Distance: 1-5 miles depending on your route.
⏱️ Time: 1-3 hours

We took a shorter route from Millers Dale, which took us around 1 hour, making it ideal for a quick but rewarding adventure!

💡 Tips:

* Wear good shoes, the stones and paths can be slippery
* Go early or on weekdays to avoid queues at the crossing
* Take your time… this place is all about the scenery

It might not be a total secret anymore, but it still feels like one when you’re down in the gorge 🤍

If you’re looking for the perfect weekend adventure in the UK, this is it 👇

📍Cheddar Gorge, dramatic limestone cliffs & birth place of cheddar cheese 🧀

📍Where is it?
Somerset, around 30 mins from Bristol and 2.5 hours from London, ideal for a spontaneous weekend hike.

🥾 The Route Options:
Full Gorge Loop- approx. 5-6km (3–4 miles) The classic circular walk along both cliff edges. Big views & steady inclines, totally doable if you’ve got average fitness.

South Side Only- shorter option with epic viewpoints and slightly quieter trails. This one starts with quite an intense rocky incline, so take your time.

⏱ Time Needed:
2- 3 hours at a relaxed pace (longer if you’re stopping for photos… which you will)

👟 What to Wear:
Proper walking boots (it gets muddy + rocky)
Layers (it’s exposed at the top) Waterproof if the forecast looks questionable

🎒 Bring:
Water
Snacks (trust us, you’ll want a summit snack moment)
Phone/camera for those Jurassic-looking cliffs

This is one of the best entry level adventure hikes in the UK, dramatic scenery without needing to be an experienced hiker.

🏝 Coron – 9/10
Pros:
✅ Unreal island hopping
✅ the clearest turquoise water we’ve ever seen
✅ amazing reef to snorkel at Siete Pecados
Cons:
❎ Not much happening in Coron town itself, so island hopping is a must.

Faves: Banul Beach, Siete Pecados & Sunset Lagoon 😍

🌊 El Nido – 8.5/10
Pros:
✅ So much to see with endless island hopping options.
✅ Great town vibe with lots of bars and restaurants
Cons:
❎ More expensive and more crowded than Coron.

Faves: Nacpan Beach & Entalula Island 😍

🚣 Port Barton – 7/10
Pros:
✅ Small, friendly, not overdeveloped. Perfect for kayaking and island hopping,
Cons:
❎ limited options for things to do and the town beach isn’t the best.

Faves: Pamuayan Beach & Coconut Beach 😍

🐠 Moalboal – 7/10
Pros:✅ The sardine run is such a unique experience. ✅ turtles are easy to spot
✅ Great access to Kawasan Falls canyoning.
Cons:
❎ Main beach isn’t great and not loads to do otherwise

🪼 Sohoton Cove – 6.5/10
Pros:
✅ Absolutely stunning, Avatar-like scenery
✅ You can have the unique experience of swimming with stingless jellyfish.
Cons:
❎ Scored lower due to the long, noisy journey on boat
❎ We only spotted clear (not orange) jellyfish when we were here, which was disappointing, despite visiting in season

🌴 Siargao – 9/10
Pros:✅ Chill surf-town vibes, rustic and authentic, with insane natural beauty.
Cons:
❎ Weather can be unpredictable

Faves 😍 Massin River & Mahaybo Beach were highlights.
