A color explorer in love with the sky

It’s been a while since my last children’s book I draw.
Life shows me another pathway. Another medium to explore. I draw for packagings, murals, music cover albums, animations, even children’s orchestra concert that lead me to produce trinkets and merchandise. I am very grateful for that. However, my life still revolves around children’s books. In a new role, being an art director (shout out to Litara for this big opportunity!) and always different takeaway in every title delegated to me.
Recently, I learned a new form of art. I was selected as one of the participant of SENSORIA #2 workshop provided by Goethe Institut. A new media art. A whole new things that answered my curiosity about exhibition productions, project mapping, and sensory system. Most important, new friends with different expertise and different point of view. It was an eye opener (shout out to the curators and fellow artists (especially my teammates, Alyssa and Rex!)).
Once I thought I’ll be a children’s book illustrator for the rest of my life. Living everywhere I want to, drawing whenever I’d like to (minus the hassle of me bring all the supplies on my bag and not considering the income lol). Funny things, I also once thought that I’ll be an architect for the rest of my life, which is not happening. So will I pivot—or let’s say redirect my life again? I don’t know. All I know is, my energy supply is high enough to create something whenever it lits my heart 🍀
Well, have you ever think about pivoting your career (or life)? And where it calls you to?
P.S. The fit I am using is the one I wore on Elio & Basil concert. The most formal I can find in my closet to wear in a string orchestra. Maybe I have to rethink of having another set of formal attire.
P.S.S. Don’t get me wrong, I really miss drawing for a children book!

How to tell if someone is care? Maybe when they remember. Remember that you’ll choose tea over coffee. Maybe when they asked you about your plan you’ve shared before. Or maybe when they notice the recent book you’ve read. Trivial things that matter.
I myself have difficulty memorizing birthdays. Especially those birthdays in the middle of the year. June and July—Juni & Juli jumbled in my brain. Let alone the date. And I am ironically blessed with friends whose birthdays are in those months. I add an extra brain storage for that. I tried so hard to remember to show that I care.
So, are you that someone who remember things?

Last Sunday I went to Museum MACAN with friends before going back to Bandung. It’s always nice to see art exhibitions and bring some takeaways home. This time, I dig deeper on Junghuhn’s lithography. A complicated technique with so many steps. I wonder If Junghuhn literally brought those limestones to draw those mountains on the spot. What a complex way of drawing (with truly meticulous and delicate result!) 🙌🏻
I always wonder how far an artwork could go. so I stretched my passion project, drawings into a new medium: a stopmotion video. Inspired by “MOVE MOVE” mv directed by (please watch! とてもかっこいい!)
itself are so personal that i found this song matches my current phase of life. Hope you enjoy! 🍀
P.S. also hope that I can see Ako in live concert one day!~~~

I did a few tasks today. Before I left my desk, I said to myself,
“thank you for completing this, this, this, and this.”
Now I’m writing a caption for another or on my bed, enjoying some hours left before today become tomorrow’s. I wonder why did I choose my side profile than my front look at the first place? Did I feel shy to show my full face? Or it was just a technical? To draw an eye instead of two, avoiding imbalance jaw, and clear expression?
Then I remember why. I drew my very first post of this series in a state of liberation. I walked. Moving forward and in a few odd times, backward I can tell. But always a move. Sometimes it feels like in a rush. With nobody actually rushing me. Maybe actually I rushes myself. It’s all in my head. The scenarios I build push me to reach that scene. Is it worth it? I am not even sure. Some push prove me right, some left me a bit disappointed. But I just don’t want to feel sorry for staying and not trying. For the experiences in life 🍻
Do you feel like you push yourself enough? Or maybe we should take a rest and sip a cup of peach tea in the morning under the tree?
