Thursday throwback to the incredible group of 50+ people who contributed anonymous love notes to my .wonderseekers project Parallel Hearts, as well as the local businesses and organisations who supported and got involved. Consider this your nudge to add a little wonder to someone’s week… 🩷🤎

PS. A note about the song: “Higher” by is apparently the first song I EVER listened to on Spotify, 10 years ago. I was deep in the hell of writing my third novel, Remind Me How This Ends, during that era so that tracks. Feels! So many feels! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🩹

A little whinge, in case you wanna get anything mildly unbearable off your chest on a gloomy, rainy Tuesday. My publisher has not approved this post 😇😈

TINY BAD THINGS

- Trying to fold a fitted sheet
- Needing so many passwords. Why?! Why?!
- My faves being voted off Survivor 50
- Having pimples and grey hairs at the same time
- Day 5391 of my kid being in a cast for a broken arm after emergency surgery
- Getting sick when you’re on a big deadline
- Face ID not recognising you cos you look like you’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards
- Menus via QR code (yes, I am Old Man Yells At Cloud)
- Phone and email storage always fighting for its life (what do you mean it’s already full??)
- Working out what’s for dinner… again?!
- Washing… again?!
- Small talk, no, please no!
- No loose hot chips in the bottom of the bag
- A person who doesn’t wave when you let them in in traffic
- Not having any chocolate in the house

What else is on the list so we can all rage together? Unburden yourself below, the tinier and pettier, the better… ??

The rumours are true: I’m on a novel deadline and have forgotten how to be a human. My protagonist, Leni, is fine, though: she’s fed, watered, having a wild old time and going through a hell of a lot more character development than me (she doesn’t need to know her author is currently held together with dry shampoo, green tea, Vyvanse and sheer delusion). If you see me in broad daylight (hisss!), please throw snacks in my direction and proceed with caution.

Thursday throwback to our Women of the Riverina tour!
Slide 2 features a little excerpt from the monologue I wrote for this award-winning production (yes, ICYMI we nabbed an Australian Writer’s Guild Award win for community theatre! Regional theatre kids ftw!). Shoutout to the wonderful .harding___ who brought my piece ‘I Am A River’ to life in the most recent productions in Albury, Tumut and Junee, while special mention to who starred in the Sydney and Wagga shows. So honoured to have a small role in this glorious group project and to see my words and experiences transformed on stage. The vulnerability hangover is long gone, now it’s just pride and joy at being a part of this community and experience with you all. Thank you .simpsonn and all the incredible sponsors and supporters. Bravo! 🤎

Throwback Thursday with the delightful 💓 Talk about a career highlight. Two years ago (to the day!), I was lucky enough to be in-conversation with Becky at one of my favourite bookstores to chat about her beloved YA novel Imogen, Obviously. What a treat to see her devoted fans and readers pour so much love into her and vice versa - a masterclass in making people feel seen and accepted for exactly who they are. Becky was also incredibly generous with her platform and gave The Unexpected Mess of it All so much love. Such a special night… and I can’t believe it was two years ago! 🩵💛🩵💛

Writing in the Wild Wednesday at ’s WRK HRS event 💖

I’m so grateful to have received funding from and the NSW government this year to attend co-working days with WRK HRS.

I LOVE solo working… but not every day. This is where WRK HRS comes in: warm, fun, structured coworking days in Wagga run by the lovely Rach Anderson from Assembld, full of talented regional creatives and small business owners.

I’m very excited to write in the wild throughout the year alongside the brilliant WRK HRS bunch, as I hunker down on my novel deadline and a few other creative projects (and savour all the tasty treats).

The procrastination gremlin is still in there (always), but when I’m at WRK HRS, at least Rach is watching and the work gets DONE.

This project is supported by the Eastern Riverina Arts Writers Grant, administered by Eastern Riverina Arts on behalf of the NSW Government.

Been thinking of this messy music-and-TV obsessed theatre kid with her wild, busy, creative, exhausting brain a lot this past week. Wish I could tell her we FINALLY got answers on what the hell was up with our non-stop constellation brain (and we’re still just as obsessed with music and TV, and we STILL forget to close kitchen cupboards and wardrobe drawers, oops). Thanks for all the love and messages this past week 🤎
