New Roots Haiti

Registration is open for our fall preschool classes. We welcomed several families to our open house where we were able to show parents our current classroom and talk about our methods and approach. This coming year we will have 20 open spaces. Please pray that the right children will come enroll in our school and that our impact will not only be deep in their lives, but in the lives of their whole family.

Our theater kids recently put on the biggest show we have done to date, Beauty and the Beast. They were nervous about whether they could memorize that many lines, but did a fantastic job and had the crowd roaring with laughter!

The large majority of the prep for for this event was lead by our teens. Bouton and friend painted the backdrop. He also made several of the costumes. One of our teens used the computer skills he had learned in our program to create an invitation to invite parents to the event.

Almost all the kids preforming had their parents attend, which is a huge success. They commented afterwards how glad they were to have come and how they would have missed out if they didn’t. It was obvious they were proud of their children!

Clearly theater is more than just putting on a play. Our kids were able to be involved in so many ways. They improved their self confidence, perseverance, and developed stronger relationships. They spent the last 6 months preparing for this event and being guided by Paulna, our psychologist.

Your generosity towards New Roots allows us to create a varied array of programs to continue to dive deep into these kids lives and we are so thankful for that on going support.

Our Annual Easter party was a huge success. The kids sang worship songs, talked about the sacrifice that Jesus made for EACH of us, and of course had games, crafts and an egg hunt. As the kids left the party, they were SCREAMING with joy! It’s so fun to watch them enjoy life and get to be kids on this special day.

For four years, he was our biggest troublemaker. He struggled with behavior, had already been kicked out of several schools, and needed 2-on-1 tutoring just to learn how to read.

But we refused to give up on him.

Because academics weren’t the real goal.
Helping him build relationships was.

Over the past six months, we began to see something change — not just in his schoolwork, but in his heart.

During a Bible lesson about Zacchaeus, he raised his hand and shared something we will never forget:

“Before I came to the Dream Center, I had no friends. Everyone avoided me because of my bad behavior. I felt alone and sometimes I thought no one could love me."”

Then he smiled and said:

“Now I have friends. I am happy. You changed my life, and I will never forget it.”

Every child has a story.
