Boonie Flight Project
we ♥️ boonies Guam is a US territory south of Japan, east of the Philippines and home to stray dogs known as "boonie dogs".
Our small island is currently home to over 60,000 homeless stray dogs. We sadly do not have enough homes on island to foster or adopt these pups, and every day there is a new litter of puppies being found. Our foster programs on island are also at critical levels, and we simply do not have enough humans on island to care for the number of dogs we have. These animals need to find a home off island,

SUPPORT with SHIRTS 🥰
There’s so much I’m juggling right now between the human side of typhoon recovery, vet school finals, prepping to go home and running social media. But here ya go - buy a shirt and support our work!
Follow .island.vet for more info on the typhoon 😭😓

Just a momma dog and her baby trying to find safety after Super Typhoon Sinlaku 😭❤️🩹
In case you missed it - the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) was just devastated by a strong, slow, horrific category 5 typhoon. Max sustained winds of 170mph with gusts above that. There is A LOT of damage 😭
and Dr. Mariana Turner (Guam territorial vet, Saipan Humane volunteer medical director, CNMI consulting vet) have been working hard behind the scenes to get aid, and help is on its way this week 🥳
But boy do we have our work cut out for us.
For those who don’t know - I’m Lauren. I started BFP in 2021 with a friend in efforts to save island dogs by flying them to homes stateside. We have so many strays and not nearly enough homes for them all. But I realized, I can only help a tiny tiny fraction of the dogs in that way.
So I started which is not a shelter, but it’s actually a clinic. Because you cannot have human treatment of animals without a clinic. We don’t have a permanent vet on Saipan, which is why I’m at vet school. Check our .island.vet to learn more about that, but also more about the typhoon our island just experienced.
So yea.. I have watched this video probably hundreds of times already. Breaks my heart. Please share it. Hope our little islands get seen. Hope our stories get shared.

➡️ www.gofundme.com/sinlakupets - this is to help our little Clinic stay on its feet. We won’t be making money for a while probably. But we want to take care of our staff so they can continue doing the amazing work they do in the community.

Please like comment share save. It helps these posts be seen.
I just threw this video together real quick because I am swamped in efforts to help people back home.
But I just had to let you guys know.
Petunia is alive ❤️
If you don’t know what’s going on with the typhoon, go to my other account .island.vet and get yourself caught up. It’s not getting enough attention for coverage stateside. But it is devastating. Our islands are unrecognizable.
Super Typhoon Sinlaku is headed towards Saipan.
Don’t forget - it is illegal to leave dogs outside in this weather 😓
Despite that, we have had numerous reports of dogs tied up with no plans to be brought inside. What would you do?

5 years ago, we flew 25 dogs to safety across the country.. From New Hampshire to Alaska and beyond ✈️
What started as 3 pups snowballed so quickly.
Our pictures? Terrible. It was a miracle that anybody adopted from us 🤣 but the pandemic was strange times, and lots of people who wanted puppies were getting declined from rescues because they didn’t have a yard. Lived in an apartment. Had a job. Etc.
We just wanted these dogs to live🤷♀️
This account has grown so much from our early days, probably 17,000 of you weren’t around for them. So enjoy this little trip down memory lane.
Next up, pictures from our very first flight day on April 10, 2021 ❤️
Disclaimer: we don’t fly on this scale anymore. There were just three core BFP folks. I’m at vet school ( .island.vet ), works at & is at . Long term, this was not sustainable- not for 3 volunteers. But we sure did a lot.
Ps this was all made possible thanks to the amazing pet shipper . Without her, there would be +700 less lives saved. THANK YOU LISA ❤️✈️

Rescue work on Saipan is not for the faint of heart.
Puppies on Saipan are born with the odds stacked against them 😭 This was the last of a group of pups who all died or were put down at the shelter. He was bailed out, but it was too late.
On Saipan we have almost no fosters and SO MANY unwanted dogs.
Grateful to the person who gave this baby a chance and was his nurse around the clock until it was time to say goodbye ❤️ at least he died knowing a cozy home and love.
How to help?
➡️ let’s prevent puppies from getting into this situation to begin with. Support access to vet care. Spay/neuter.
Follow our clinic
& help us bring out a vet: gofundme.com/SaipanVet
Thank you!
That sweet fluffy baby who passed away at my house was one of many. The rest at the shelter all passed away or were put down. Except.. this little big eared bobtail guy.
Hopefully he pulls through. It isn’t really looking good.
If he does make it - he will need a home 🥹✈️
FYI
🐾 This is not OUR shelter. It is the govt shelter.
😭 We have no veterinarian on Saipan, even tho we are part of the U.S.
🩺 I’m at vet school ( .island.vet ) & can only do so much from 6,000 miles away
😷 We want to move towards TNR and need help to do that. Click links in bio to learn more or donate to the lil nonprofit clinic I started,
Thank you!!!
This is Petunia 🌺
She’s been living at golf course with a rope tied around her abdomen for years now. That rope is cutting into her skin 😭 and she’s been battling a chronic wound from it.
She was first reported to us years ago and we could never catch her. So many people tried.
When John Peaveler from visited, he helped devise a plan to finally catch her. He’s a world-renowned animal trapping expert, after all!
So now - volunteers are following the plan, and he is helping us from afar. There’s a trail cam, a trap, and lots of work behind the scenes. She is REALLY smart, and really skittish.
We want to step up our game and purchase some more advanced equipment to catch her before rainy season. Want to help? www.saipanhumanesociety.org/donate and add a note that it’s for Petunia!
Once trapped, will provide medical care and she has a wonderful home lined up 🥹❤️
