Are you ready to be your own best advocate? Legislative Awareness Week (LAW) is an annual program during which the Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) equips our members with the tools, training, and confidence to be their own best advocates. Through briefings and hands-on engagement, AFSA leaders and legislative experts demystify the policy process, explain current legislative priorities, and equip participants with practical skills for effective advocacy. Members learn how to share their personal stories with lawmakers, build constructive relationships with congressional offices, and amplify the collective voice of enlisted airmen, veterans, and military families. LAW underscores the belief that the most potent advocates are those directly impacted—empowering AFSA members nationwide to ensure their concerns are heard at every level of government.

​This year, as AFSA members meet with elected officials across the country, members from AFSA chapters across the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area will join the headquarters legislative team on Capitol Hill for a dedicated day of advocacy. Together, they will meet face-to-face with lawmakers and their staff to discuss the pressing quality-of-life challenges facing military servicemembers, veterans, and their families. From housing and childcare to health care access and earned benefits, these conversations will highlight the everyday experiences of those who serve and ensure policymakers understand the human impact behind AFSA’s legislative priorities.
