“The title is a notable phrase for me from Michael Robbins' "Walkman" poem. In it, he writes of two significant life changes as things that just sort of happened, seemingly without his intention or meaning.
As someone who anxiously overthinks most things myself, formative change tends to be the same.
Something that just sort of happens, without regard to any of my thoughts or plans otherwise; a surprise to even my best rehearsals.
I hope these songs speak something of that feeling to you.
Lastly, I owe a ton of gratitude to John and Asher at Lakes Recording. Not only for helping produce, mix, and master the album, but more importantly for being the ones to spark that initial excitement of working together after I played them some demos early last year. I have fond memories of the weekend we spent together working on the album last April.
