Cruthis

Chrysi Papadaki (1997, Rethymno, Greece) is an artist, from Crete and based in Athens.
In 2024 she graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts in the painting department.
In her artistic practice she usually approaches the topics that interest her through a circle of research process, automatic drawing and auto-research. She has a strong interest in anthropology, global cultural heritage, folklore, mythology and human experience around sexual trauma. She explores the variety of new forms and entities that can emerge from the union of different elements and how they are formed into hybrid shapes.

Κρούθις (Cruthis) is a word of her own invention that expresses the point of union/meeting of disparate elements/conditions/people, are hybrids that incorporate the union of material culture with the biological element and human experience. ‘Cruthis’ appears as writing, pictograms, ritual symbols, and fragments that anticipate union.
