Musikarama (Karama, dignity in Arabic) is a project aiming at building bridges through music Welcome to Musikarama!!
We are a Spanish registered association, currently operating in Athens, Greece, where thousands of refugees are awaiting for months in an uncertain situation, especially ever since countries such as Macedonia, Eslovenia or Croatia shut their borders in March 2016. This measure, with the approval of the European Union, was an attempt to shut the route for migrants trying to reach their destinations

What an incredible performance by our choir tonight at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center/ ✨
The 1st Community Choir Festival is officially a fact — and we were so happy to be part of this beautiful celebration of polyphony and music!

🔥Metamorphosis is a collaborative fashion show around the topic of migration and freedom. It is a collection of wearable items that constrain our bodies and at the same time they can change into our wings.
They represent the transforming process of leaving everything behind to find a new home and a new identity.
Inspired by a caterpillar that digests itself in order to become a butterfly. The cells that survive turn into eyes, wings, antennae.
They carry a few memories from their past life and fly away to the unknown

We have made this short video to tell the story of how and why we started Musikarama, told by one of the projects founders, Iňaki.
From a van full of instruments to a home made studio in Athens, we have been constantly evolving.

Since 2018 we have been working as volunteers, surviving from small grants. but to end the year we are trying to raise 35000 euros, to cover our running costs for the next years and increase our capacity to provide free music lessons and recordings.
