Today we celebrate 69 years of freedom since Ghana gained independence from United Kingdom on 6 March 1957.

Under the leadership of Kwame Nkrumah, our nation rose with courage and determination to end colonial rule and become the first sub-Saharan African country to achieve independence.

Nkrumah’s powerful declaration still echoes today: “Ghana, our beloved country, is free forever.”

This historic moment inspired many African nations to fight for their freedom and shaped the spirit of unity across the continent.
