Who doesn’t love an unassuming car. Subtle on the outside, spicy in the middle. The sleeper recipe has a scale from completely off radar to subtle but obvious, and this Mk2 Es**rt sits right in the middle. It’s a sleeper, but the clues are there.

Hearing aid beige. Superlights. Low. Subtle. 90s street spec. No wide arches. No rally livery. No shouting. Just a clean, period-correct look that’s become a path less trodden in Es**rt circles.

Under the bonnet, it’s anything but standard. An MX5 engine. The 1.8-litre from the roadster, good for around 130bhp in stock form. But we all know what happens when you reintroduce the turbo Mazda originally removed. 250bhp becomes very achievable. Cheaper power than a Ford equivalent nowadays, and proven in MX5 circles for decades.

Inside, OMP Champ-R seats, TRS harnesses, a deep dish Sparco rally wheel, MX5 clocks integrated into the dash, Defi gauges, AEM wideband. Internal lines, hydro handbrake, bolt-in cage, sliding windows, repackable silencer, gold heat management. The details are all there.

And then there’s the sticker on the dash. “Go on ya b*stard.” A line from the Evenflow YouTube channel. If you know, you know.

This is what street spec looks like when it’s done right. Unassuming. Capable. Cool. It’s builds like this that we’ve been supplying parts for since Demon Tweeks’ inception, and long may it continue.

Want to try sim racing before you commit? Or want a proper session with tuition on a rig that's the next step up?

We've expanded our sim racing area at the Wrexham HQ. And it's run by our sim team, who genuinely know their stuff.

You can book an appointment with a dedicated sim advisor and try different setups, different gear, and different rigs. We've got three to choose from.

Our flagship rig is built around the best of the best. Trak Racer TR160 cockpit with triple monitors, Qubic motion system, Simucube 3 Pro direct drive, GSI Hyper P1 steering wheel and Simucube Active Pedal Ultimates. It's as close to the real thing as you can get without leaving the building.

Then we've got a lay-back Trak Racer TRX cockpit with a 49” Samsung monitor that simulates the open wheel race car feel, running Moza R21 Ultra wheel base, KS Pro steering wheel and Heusinkveld Ultimate+ Pedals. And a budget rig built around a Trak Racer TR80S cockpit, Moza R9 wheelbase, CS V2P steering wheel and CRP2 Pedals, showing exactly what's achievable for sensible money. Still fantastic.

Whether you're an aspiring F1 driver, a drifter looking for seat time, a track day enthusiast wanting to learn a new circuit, or someone preparing for their first Nürburgring trip, sim racing is a genuinely useful tool. No tyres to replace. No fuel to burn. No spannering on the car. No risk to your car, no track fees, and as countless race programmes have proved, it translates to real-world skill.

Book online. Appointment only.

A novice track day isn't about having the fastest car. It's about learning the craft.

We were at Oulton Park recently supporting MSV Trackdays or one of their novice days. The vibe was different to a regular track day. No pressure. No egos. Just a group of drivers at a similar stage, all getting to grips with circuit driving together.

That's the value of a novice day. You're not sharing the track with seasoned racers. You're with people asking the same questions, making the same mistakes, and learning at the same pace. It's the safest, most supportive environment to push yourself and your car.

We were on hand with track day essentials and advice. Plenty of chats, plenty of questions answered. A genuinely fun day with a great crowd.

Novice days are where it starts. And if you've been thinking about getting on track, they're the perfect first step.

Driving your car on track is one of the most fun things you can do with it. But you won't even get past the paddock if you're missing these three things.

A helmet. Doesn't have to be motorsport-specific for most track days, but you do need one.

A towing eye. Highly recommended. If it all goes a bit wrong, recovery crews need a safe, accessible point to attach to. It saves time, avoids potential damage, and keeps the session moving.

Appropriate clothing. No shorts. Long sleeves if you're in a convertible. Common sense, but people forget.

Three simple things. Sorted before you arrive. Then you can focus on the fun part.

You know you should be running an aftermarket air filter. But which one?

Ramair is one of the biggest names in filtration, and for good reason. Foam or pleated panels, iconic cones, and even filters for carbs & throttle bodies. Whatever your engine bay looks like, there's a solution.

UK made. Enthusiast owned. No corporate BS. More videos on the way.

There's a lot of pressure in car culture to make things shiny. To chase the perfect paint, the clean bay, the show-standard finish. And that's fine, if that's your goal.

But if your goal is track time? This EG Civic is a masterclass in priorities.

Matt black, brush or roller applied. Layers of paint and overspray. Rust blooming through. Stickers from track days past telling a story. Door skins gone, wiring exposed, no attempt to hide the working bits. A bright yellow SW Motorsports cage standing out against the dark. A worn OMP wheel. TRS-E seats and harnesses. B18C power with a simple intake and exhaust.

Enkei RPF1s and Nankang AR1s. Grip over gloss.

This car looks like it's fresh from Mobara Twin. Rough around the edges, but built properly. Every modification is considered. Every choice is about going faster, not looking prettier. That authenticity makes it cooler than most show cars.

We know track day prep. Our competition heritage helps us cut through what works, what you need, and how to get the best from your car on track, whatever your budget. Tyres, suspension, racewear. We've got you covered.

Going turbo? Don't forget the clutch.

It's the most overlooked part of a turbo conversion. You've sorted the manifold, the intercooler, the ECU, the injectors. But that stock clutch? It's still sitting there, quietly counting down the miles until it gives up.

Take an MX5. It leaves the factory with around 90bhp. The stock clutch is perfectly matched to that. Now you've bolted a turbo on and you're chasing 250bhp. That tired old unit is now a ticking time bomb, waiting for the worst possible moment to let go.

If the gearbox is off and you're replacing the clutch anyway, it makes perfect sense to do the whole system properly. Match it with a lightweight performance flywheel and an uprated pressure plate. The flywheel transforms how the engine responds, sharper revs, faster downshifts, more connection. The uprated friction plate is the insurance that keeps all your other mods doing their job, putting that new-found power down without drama.

Helix have exceptional customer support and a solution for almost any application. So hit us up and let's make your build a reality.

Ready to step up your track game? We've got three road-legal track tyres that punch well above their price point.

Toyo R888R is the established choice. Chunky square profile, big blocky tread, and a proven record from club racing to Ken Block's Pikes Peak runs . It warms up fast, stays predictable, and works well for drivers building confidence.

Davanti Protoura Race is the newcomer. Owners consistently praise its progressive breakaway and track handling, with many finding it quieter and more comfortable than aggressive alternatives . It's already a control tyre for Mini Challenge Clubsport and the Suzuki Swift Challenge.

Nankang AR1 is the dry-weather weapon. Slick-looking, huge grip, and a favourite in competition circles . If you're chasing lap times in the dry, this is the one.

Three tyres. Three characters. All road legal. All available from us.

If you're chasing lap times, the BC Racing HM series is where the investment starts to pay off.

Michael, the main tech and development lead at BC UK, knows these dampers inside out. And the HM is the one for drivers who've moved beyond fast road and into dedicated track territory.

External reservoirs for increased oil capacity and better heat management. 30 clicks of separate rebound and compression adjustment. Inverted damper design, which reduces unsprung weight, improves heat dissipation, and adds strength where it matters. Adjustable bottom mounts for ride height. Pillowball top mounts for sharper response.

This is the kit for time attack, competition work, or anyone who's serious about consistent lap times. BC has become a hugely popular brand for good reason. The performance-to-price ratio is exceptional.

If you've got a fun car or a project that's not currently on axle stands, you'll know the pain of a flat battery. Especially through winter when it barely moves.

The CTEK CS1 Gen 2 is the answer. It's a smart charger and conditioner that does all the thinking for you. Connect it up, walk away, and it handles the rest. It can even recover and recondition deeply discharged batteries you'd assumed were destined for the bin.

The clever bit? It connects to your home Wi-Fi, so you can keep an eye on your battery's health from anywhere in the world. Real-time updates, charge history, alerts. All through the CTEK app.

We're all advocates of CTEK conditioners here at Demon Tweeks. We use them ourselves, on our own cars. And it means when spring arrives and the salt has washed away, your pride and joy is ready to go. First turn of the key, on the button. No jumping, no drama.

With winter on the horizon, now's the time to tuck your car away properly. A decent battery isn't cheap, and looking after it is a worthwhile investment.
