Our Trustees have been out and about recently promoting the work of South Bucks RDA.

Leanne delivered a talk sharing the work and magic of South Bucks to Slough Rotary, thank you for the kind donation.

Emma and Claire attended Slough Jobs Fair promoting volunteer opportunities and Claire attended the Feast of St Peter celebration evening and gratefully accepted a generous donation towards SBRDA. We are extremely grateful for our communities support and kindness.

This week Coach Theresa led a training session for our lovely Freddie as part of his specialist Equine Assisted Learning role. Freddie helps disabled children who are engaged in speech therapy support to gain confidence to communicate while having fun.

Thank you to our groom Amanda for working alongside Freddie, ensuring he was comfortable with the various exercises. Freddie was amazing, calm, steady and confident.

We always ensure that the ponies who support our work are trained and comfortable with what we ask of them. They are a key therapeutic partner and an amazing asset to South Bucks RDA.

South Bucks RDA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) is being held in the Redfern Room at SBRDA on Tuesday 20th October at 730pm.

All of our community are welcome - the AGM is a chance to hear about the Group’s activities over the past year and to meet the Trustees.

Light refreshments will be available.

October is ADHD Awareness Month.

For people with ADHD, activities that combine movement, routine and a clear focus can be particularly enjoyable and rewarding.

At Riding for the Disabled, every session offers something different. Participants can enjoy time outdoors, build a relationship with their pony and work towards achievable goals at their own pace.

Riding and interacting with horses and ponies can also encourage concentration, confidence, coordination and communication, all while being part of a supportive and welcoming environment.

Every participant is different and that is something we celebrate.

We have officially concluded our 2026 Equine Lecture Series by Iain McKenzie Equine Practice at South Bucks RDA.

A huge thank you to Boehringer Ingelheim for joining us for the final session and delivering an incredibly insightful talk on equine ulcers. We’ve learned so much that will help us keep our horses happy and healthy. Thank you also to Boehringer Ingelheim for the goodie bags!

We also want to extend a massive thank you to Dr Becky for sharing her expertise and leading our previous lectures throughout the series.

Most importantly, thank you to ALL of you who attended, supported, and engaged with these sessions. Your passion for learning and supporting our community is what makes these events so special.

❄️ We are taking a little break over the Winter months but our Equine Lecture Series will return for 2027 starting in late Spring. We will share information with you via our social media.

❔What does inclusion mean to you?

This National Inclusion Week, we're sharing what inclusion means to people across our equestrian community.

💚 Beginning her equestrian journey at her local Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) group, horses gave Mari Durward-Akhurst Para Dressage Rider not only physical benefits but also confidence, friendship and something she could truly excel at, becoming a para dressage athlete and Paralympic medallist.

💬 "For me, as a full-time wheelchair user, true inclusion means full accessibility and belonging being part of everyday life, not something we have to ask or fight for.

"It means being listened to, not being defined by my disability, and having my abilities, ambitions and contributions recognised. It’s about creating a society where differences are respected and everyone has the opportunity to reach their potential."

🦄 When people feel they belong and have the opportunity to shine, incredible things can happen.
