Another vehicle in with us this week requiring an MD1CS003 ECU unlock before calibration work could be carried out.
Using the official AutoTuner mail-in unlock service, we were able to unlock the ECU safely and efficiently before carrying out the required tuning work.
Once unlocked, these ECUs can be programmed on the bench via bench mode, allowing us to make calibration changes for tuning.

2010 Mercedes C63 AMG on the dyno with us for custom tuning 🔥

You don’t see many of these legendary naturally aspirated V8s left in completely stock form these days, so it was great to have such a clean and well-maintained example in the workshop.
Despite its condition, the dyno revealed that a few horses had escaped over the car’s 16-year life.

The sound, the power delivery, and that unmistakable V8 character never get old 😎

Another DQ500 mechatronic unit dropped off with us for replacement pressure sensors after a poor repair elsewhere led to ongoing issues.

Upon inspection, we found that low-quality sensors had been fitted and the workmanship left a lot to be desired.

We carefully removed the old sensors (see pictures), fitted two high-quality replacements, and then tested the unit on our bench rig to verify correct pressure readings before returning it to the customer.

We now offer this service to both the trade and retail customers, either as a postal repair service or via drop-off at our workshop.

🔓 2024 Iveco Daily fitted with a Bosch MD1CS069 ECU in for tuning!

These ECUs are locked, and most tuning tools require the ECU to be sent away for an unlock process (check picture attached of this extract Ecu with another tool) before any work can be carried out. This increases both the cost and vehicle downtime, leaving your van off the road for longer than necessary.

⚙️ DQ500 Mechatronic Repair Completed ⚙️

This VW Tiguan came into us with a common DQ500 gearbox fault code:

❌ P1736 – Pressure Sensor 2 Faulty

After diagnosis, we carried out the repair by replacing both pressure sensors within the mechatronic unit to ensure long-term reliability and prevent repeat failures.

Mercedes C63 on the dyno! 🔥

These cars certainly aren’t lacking performance from the factory, but with our custom calibration they become a completely different vehicle.

2018 VW Golf GTI Performance 2.0 TSI (245PS Manual) in with us for dyno testing and data logging.

The customer wanted to verify the vehicle’s performance after having Stage 2 engine software installed, along with supporting modifications.

Overall, the data logs looked healthy:

✅ No timing correction across the full rev range
✅ Boost holding at 1.5 bar up to 4,500rpm before tapering to 1.35 bar at redline
✅ Fuel pressure operating correctly throughout
✅ Torque intentionally limited due to the manual transmission

Could there have been more power to gain? Absolutely. We could have refined the calibration further and improved the mid-range performance. However, any additional gains would have been relatively small, and we always believe that any extra cost to the customer must be justified by the results achieved.

In this case, the vehicle was performing well and the gains simply wouldn’t warrant the expense of a complete recalibration.
Some may disagree?

If the logs had told a different story, our advice would have been different too.
