ACIM...The Soul Faculty The purpose we have as Beings is to extend our reality into all that is encountered.

A dog accidentally wanders into a house of mirrors. When he looks up he finds that he is totally surrounded by other dogs (reflections of himself, of course). He feels a little anxious about this situation and so he begins to bark. The other dogs start barking at the same time. Now he starts feeling fearful and threatened so he starts barking even louder. The other dogs do the same. Now he gets really angry and defensive and he starts showing his teeth and growling and spinning around. The other dogs do the same … growling and barking and showing their teeth and spinning round and round. Time passes and the dog grows weary from all of this anxious activity. He finally, gradually, stops all of this frantic behavior and sits perfectly still and quiet. The other dogs do the same. Then he simply stands up and wanders out of the house of mirrors.

The Art of Meditation.
The art of meditation is stillness. BUT, stillness can not be achieved directly by will or desire because it's an effect.
It is an effect of contentment. Only when there is contentment, the complete freedom from need, will we cease to be driven by impulses.
A human being is essentially and continuously driven by impulses. He imagines he's doing it, but it's being done to him, he's being driven.
Only when there is contentment which is the acceptance of the peace of God within, will needfulness and drivenness subside and give way to stillness....
'I rest in God completely undismayed '. ... 'Thy grace is my sufficiency in all things'.
No technique, no guided meditation... just God dependency. # # #

LESSON 290
My Present Happiness Is All I See.
Unless I look upon what is not there, my present happiness is all I see. Eyes that begin to open see at last. And I would have Christ’s vision come to me this very day. What I perceive without God’s Own Correction for the sight I made is frightening and painful to behold. Yet I would not allow my mind to be deceived by the belief the dream I made is real an instant longer. This the day I seek my present happiness, and look on nothing else except the thing I seek.

With this resolve I come to You, and ask Your strength to hold me up today, while I but seek to do Your Will. You cannot fail to hear me, Father. What I ask have You already given me. And I am sure that I will see my happiness today.
