Hyson Green Library are rounding off our Great Big Green Week programme with a Fairy Garden Workshop for children. 🪄

Come and join Windmill Community Gardens to decorate the Hyson Green Library Garden with a fairy garden. All materials are provided for and children must be supervised by an adult. This event is free! Head to our website to book your place!

Come down to Nottingham Central Library from Saturday 20 June to see The Sisterhood Collective and University of Nottingham City as Lab team for the Female Urban Belonging project!

This exhibition showcases female experiences of urban belonging in Nottingham. Women’s voices, stories and creative expressions are explored through mapped journeys, photographs, visual narratives and recorded reflections, offering a layered portrait of Nottingham through women’s eyes.

Our final screening of the National Emergency Briefing is at 3pm today! There are still tickets left so get them on our website whilst you still can.

The film is for 50 minutes, which details information about the climate and nature crisis. There is then an hour's discussion afterwards to discuss the impact of the film.

Statement from Nottingham Central Library, regarding Electronic Snail Racing demo’s with Tim’s ‘world first’ electronic snail racing board:

'Following concerns raised regarding the planned Electronic Snail Racing Board demonstrations at Nottingham Central Library, we have taken the decision to cancel the event with immediate effect.

While the demonstrations were intended as a light-hearted and educational activity, we recognise that some members of the community have expressed genuine concerns about the welfare of the snails involved. Nottingham Central Library takes all feedback seriously and would never knowingly host an activity that could cause distress, either to animals or to our visitors.

We apologise to anyone who may have been disappointed by this decision, and equally to anyone who found the proposed activity upsetting. Our aim is always to provide events that are welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.

We thank the public for their understanding and look forward to continuing to offer a wide range of creative, educational and family-friendly activities at Nottingham Central Library.'
