We were honoured to host Dame Carol Black and Dr Adrian James at the Wellbeing Hub earlier this week 🌟
It was a valuable opportunity to talk through our co-occurring mental health and substance use pathway, supporting people to address both needs together. With 1 in 5 people in mental health services also facing substance use challenges, this collaborative approach is vital.
This work is only possible through strong partnership working across the city, bringing services together to deliver truly joined-up care 🤝
Thank you to Dame Carol and Dr Adrian for their insight and encouragement of this important work.

This week is Men’s Health Week 💙
In the UK, more than two-thirds of people in treatment are men, with even higher proportions across different substance groups.
At NRN, we have a dedicated men’s group as part of our community rehab pathway, offering a safe space to connect, share and take positive steps forward.
Looking after your mental health is looking after your whole health. Break the stigma and make support accessible for everyone. 🤝

Looking after someone else often means putting yourself last.
💬 “It felt like I got forgotten about.”
In this episode of the NRN podcast, we meet Sara, who found a space to be heard through our Family and Carers service, and Tanvi (pictured!), her support worker who helped make that happen.
If you’re supporting someone through substance use, this one’s for you.

In our most recent podcast, we’re joined by our very own health promotion worker, Damien, who shares his powerful recovery journey.
From a decade of struggling with alcohol and substances, to the moment he realised it had to be “stop, or die,” Damien talks honestly about what changed, how community rehab helped, and how he went on to build a new life supporting others.

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Access Project Recognition Awards - what a brilliant turnout! 🏆
We heard some really powerful stories from staff who’ve been at the heart of the project, celebrated the people who’ve made it what it is, and managed to get through a respectable amount of cake along the way. 🍰
