Unfortunately, the Tees Transporter Bridge Visitor Centre will be shut on Wednesday 18th of February, till Thursday, the 5th of March.

We have the latest edition of the fabulous, free ‘Now and Then’ magazine here at the bridge. It contains, amongst others, an article on the bridge itself, the 200th anniversary of the railway, and Middlesbrough Central Library.

This was from seven years ago, when a group of pensioners came from Market Rosen for a visit. Always great to meet a fellow ex serviceman, and especially as we were both in Tanks and armoured cars. Got a bit of a surprise as we chatted.

Meeting a former Wehrmacht Tank Commander, and holder of the Iron Cross, who also fought at the battle of Kursk during the Second World War is not something that you expect at work. Rather over awed at meeting Joe Willisch, ex Czech national, now living in Lincolnshire.
