Climate Action Middlesbrough
CAM is a Community Lottery funded programme which aims to facilitate reductions in Middlesbrough's carbon footprint
11/09/2025
πβ¨ As the CAM project comes to a close this month, weβve been reflecting on the positive impact itβs had, and thereβs no better example than our work with Teesside Mind.
Around 12 months ago, we worked with them on their first carbon account and an Environmental Action Plan to support reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Fast forward to today, and their second account shows an incredible 18.27% reduction in emissions! ππ
This is a fantastic achievement by the Teesside Mind team, and weβre so impressed with the progress theyβve made. For us at CAM, itβs also a hugely rewarding moment - proof that the tools, advice, and collaboration we provide really are helping organisations move closer to Net Zero.
π Thank you Teesside Mind for your commitment and partnership and congratulations again on this brilliant result. Together, weβre making change happen!

It's always nice when the partners can come together and work at one event, and yesterday was no exception. Annemarie from Tees Valley Wildlife Trust and Jodie from Middlesbrough Environment City joined a team from Linx Youth Project to take a group of young people rockpooling. What success we had!
We found:
π¦ Squat lobsters
π¦Edible crabs, porcelain crabs, hermit crabs, and velvet swimming crabs
π¦Shrimp
βοΈCommon starfish and brittle starfish
πCommon whelks, limpets, barnacles, common sea urchins, mussels, and periwinkle snails
πͺΈA sponge (unidentified)
And don't worry, we put them all back as soon as we had identified them...
Getting young people engaged with wildlife and nature is a great way to inspire climate action by giving them something to protect. It is so important that we make sure we are all connected to nature π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦π

A big thanks to the green spaces volunteers who attended our first training session in Middlesbrough!
This machine owned by Middlesbrough Council collects the grass as it cuts, saving us a lot of raking work later on π±
Thanks to the work of the volunteers from Friends of Bluebell Beck and Friends of Fairy Dell, we managed to cut and collect all of the wildflower meadow in Fairy Dell Park yesterday - work that would usually take several days to complete π
πΏ Teamwork in action! πΏ
Today, two of our Friends of Blue Bell Beck volunteers got hands-on training with MBCβs impressive Grillo Cut & Collect machine, thanks to The Friends of Fairy Dell Park and the wonderful organisation by Annemarie from Tees Valley Wildlife Trust π
Hereβs to keeping our green spaces thriving! π±β¨

Thank you for making a splash during ! π π
Your support helps protect our incredible seas and the wildlife that calls them home.
You can keep the momentum going by adding your voice to help stop bottom trawling in English offshore Marine Protected Areas which are supposed to protect seabed habitats.
