Linocutboy

Recent book cover illustration for Penguin Books as part of their new series Brief Encounters. I am honoured to have worked on a design for such an iconic book. Thank you to Amelia Tolley for inviting me to collaborate. Check out the rest of the series, there are some great titles and they are all beautiful.

This Saturday I'm running a Plasticine Printing workshop at Windmill Community Gardens in Margate. Book via Windmill Community Gardens Margate

We will explore using plasticine to take impressions from leaves, bark and other surfaces in the gardens, making prints on paper that explore pattern and colour.

Plasticine picks up a surprising amount of detail and you can achieve very subtle and beautiful prints. By layering textures and colours you will discover unexpected and fascinating effects.

This process is simple enough for anyone to have a go at but offers infinite possibilities. The plasticine can be used over and over again and this is a fun creative activity that you can continue to explore at home.

This workshop is suitable for all ages, and abilities.
Tickets are £5 - £15 depending on income.

I'm thinking of running a series of informal evening letterpress workshops in Margate in September. Let me know if you're interested.

I was recently asked to illustrate this new edition for Penguin. It's part of a new series called Brief Encounters and the whole set is beautiful.

Thanks to for inviting me to work on this.

There's another illustration on the back cover which I'll post an image of when I have a copy.

One place left on this workshop. A whole weekend of freestyle linocut printmaking in Margate. Join us! This is a small group (4 places total).
