🚨 Cyber Essentials is about to get tougher - April 2026 update alert!

UK businesses, here’s what you need to know:

✅ MFA is now mandatory wherever available — no excuses
✅ All cloud services handling company data are in scope
✅ Critical vulnerabilities must be fixed within 14 days
✅ Backups must support real recovery after an incident

💡 DCP Important note: Ransomware attackers often target backup systems first. Immutable backups aren’t required by the standard, but they could save your business if disaster strikes.

Cyber Essentials sets the baseline. True resilience goes further.

The Sophos State of Ransomware 2025 report has just been released, and the findings for UK infrastructure are a stark wake-up call. At DCP, we’re seeing these trends firsthand: ransomware is becoming more aggressive, more expensive, and harder to ignore.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐊 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬:

>>70% of UK attacks resulted in data encryption - well above the 50% global average.
>>$5.37M is the new median ransom demand, more than double last year’s figure.
>>103% of the demand is what UK firms are typically paying to get their data back.
>>$2.58M is the average cost of recovery excluding the ransom payment.
The real root cause: It isn't just a technical battle.
>>42% of UK organisations cited a lack of cyber security expertise as a primary reason for falling victim.

This expertise gap is putting unsustainable pressure on IT teams, leading to increased workloads and mental health stress.

The bottom line: "Hoping for the best" is no longer a strategy. Resilience requires proactive prevention, 24/7 detection, and a hardened infrastructure.
