Experts widely recognize music as one of the most powerful skills children can learn, with profound effects on brain development, focus, confidence, and long-term success. According to GreatSchools org, playing an instrument engages the same brain regions involved in language, memory, and critical thinking. Music training strengthens neural pathways, improves auditory processing, and enhances verbal memory, skills that directly support academic achievement.

Stanford researchers even found that mastering an instrument improves how the brain processes spoken language, making music especially beneficial for children struggling with reading or communication.

Music also boosts emotional and social development. As noted by Psychology Today, learning music activates the brain’s dopamine reward system, which increases motivation, mood, and perseverance. Children who experience progress in music often develop a stronger sense of self-worth and confidence, which carries over into other areas of life.

Furthermore, Lonestar Neurology highlights that music stimulates multiple brain regions simultaneously, promoting better problem-solving, pattern recognition, and hand-eye coordination. These cognitive benefits are long-lasting and contribute to overall mental agility and resilience.

EFT for musicians
Do you struggle with performance anxiety? Exam nerves? Do you have physical issues or pain when you play or sing? Do you have a negative experience related to performing, music education or any other experience that still negatively interferes with your playing?
Is there something which is holding you back? Is there something you would really want to change or feel differently about? Working on limiting or blocking beliefs about your playing or singing can be very rewarding and change your experience and enjoyment of making music and performing.

Feldenkrais is a wonderful method for musicians . I was lucky to study with Nadia David . Her knowledge of the Feldenkrais techniques has helped me immensely with my cello playing and it has changed the way I teach.
It has changed the quality of my sound production. I play with less tension and a bigger sense of freedom. I feel more connected with my cello and simply enjoy playing more.
My aim is to share my knowledge of the Feldenkrais method with my students so they can play pain free and learn how it feels to play the cello rather than ‘ do what you have to do’.

I love giving cello lessons. Face to face or online. Playing the cello is about the joy of making and improving your own sound on this beautiful instrument. It’s time for yourself. It’s time you invest to explore and discover something beautiful and new.
Also, music is healing. The sound and vibration of the cello is relaxing and connects you to a different part of yourself.
Everybody is welcome! No matter your age, musical background or anything else that might be holding you back.

At the moment people may feel more reluctant to have face to face appointments. Taking online is a good alternative then. It’s not necessarily my first choice but
has shown me that it does work and there are also advantages (and disadvantages).

First the pros:
You don’t need to travel (or dress up)
You can record the and listen to it again.
You become more independent.
I often send recording to online students so you can still play ‘ with me’ when you practice.

Cons:
Main thing is that we don’t get to play together. Music is about sounds and one of the main joys of playing an is together.

Some things are easier to see and ‘get’ when you see somebody face to face... and it's nice to have human contact (-:
