On 12 September, we walked with our more-than-human friends. 🌱
Led by artist Lucy Wright and organised by Castlefield Gallery, Wild Witness brought people together across Greater Manchester to walk, gather, make, share stories and take action for nature, and for each other.
From Castlefield Gallery to Manchester Art Gallery, through the city and on to Hulme Community Garden Centre, we came together with creatives, activists and organisations from across Greater Manchester. As we walked we connected with green and cultural spaces - those better known and those forgotten, sharing our collective knowledge, and exploring ways we can care for the natural world we are part of.
This is part of a story that has been growing over the past two years.
Following Remember Nature: Nature Remembered, 4 November 2025, Castlefield Gallery is continuing to bring people and organisations together through Wild Witness by connecting creative, environmental and community action across the city. That includes work with CyanLines around Hewitt Street and Knott Mill in the Castlefield area of Manchester City Centre, as well as the many artists, groups and communities who have contributed along the way.
And the story isn’t over.
Throughout October, you’ll see Wild Witness ‘call to action’ posters on screens across the city. On 4 November 2026, with those who have been part of the journey to date, peers and collaborators, we’ll gather to plan for further collective action to ‘stand up for nature.
We’ll share more, do more and keep building from here. We will keep bearing witness.
Wild Witness. The first of many.
FOR NATURE. FOR EACH OTHER. 🌿
