= 1 patchworked feature! That we begin to understand ourselves a little better?
It is our belief that when society stops believing in the individual, the individual tends to stop believing in society. Indeed, do we not grow as individuals through our collective experiences? Is it not through cooperation that we begin to understand each other a little better? And is it not understanding that nurtures respect, both for ourselves and for others? Perhaps artistic collaboration ca
n not transform prejudice into tolerance, or hate into love, but perhaps it’s not a bad place to start, especially during these troubling times. And herein lies the founding philosophy that will guide The Patchwork Animation Project; that and the belief that every one of us possesses the power to create, no matter what obstacles have to be overcome on our individual journey. The very fact that we are all capable of dreaming is proof enough that we are all gifted with an imagination, so perhaps all we really need to express our creativity is the right opportunity – an opportunity we can believe in beyond our locked-down bubbles…
It is for these reasons that our mission is to encourage and nurture individual talent within the framework of a new and innovative web-based arts activity; an activity that will enrich global culture by providing an online collaboration platform for upcoming artists around the world. Specifically, our competition will select 100 talented artists to each animate one of the 100 scenes in our debut project (“BABUSHKA: The Warrior’s Angel”), all coached by a patchworker team of artists and filmmakers lead by a world-renowned animator (TBC). Scheduled to be premiered in December 2022 on a major streaming platform in front of an audience of millions around the world (streaming partner, TBC), this debut project will be the first ever feature-length animation to be created by an online community. In brief, The Patchwork Project is a global initiative to share the love of 2D, 3D and CG art whilst celebrating creative diversity in the world of animation. We hope you will be able to come along for the ride – it will be like no other!
