Children of the Forest Part1 & 2
A painted work translated into hand-knotted form. Originally conceived as a single artwork, Children of the Forest has been interpreted across two rugs: Part 1 and Part 2. Together, they reveal the full composition; separately, each stands as a complete piece in its own right.
Hand-knotted at 150 knots per square inch, a single 274 x 365 cm rug contains over 2.3 million individual knots — a measure of the precision, patience and meticulous making behind the process.
Now available to view in the Knots Rugs London showroom.

There is such reward in working with artists.
With Stefan Heyer, the process is not simply about reproducing a painting as a rug. It is about translating the movement, texture, colour and atmosphere into textile.
His paintings are layered, expressive and full of life. Our role is to preserve that energy through material choices, colour interpretation and the skilled precision of artisan weaving.
The result is not a copy of the artwork, but a unique, expressive, living, breathing composition in its own right.
