This is an exceptional 19th-century Persian Heriz rug, admired for its beautifully balanced design and unusually charming small size.
Woven in the rugged highlands of Northwest Persia, this piece showcases the classic Heriz aesthetic: a bold geometric medallion, crisply articulated corner spandrels, and a richly layered border system filled with stylized botanical motifs. The palette—featuring warm terracotta, deep indigo, ivory, and soft sky-blue accents—highlights the rug’s hand-spun wool and natural dyes, which have matured gracefully over time.

Compact antique Heriz rugs of this age and quality are increasingly rare. This example’s refined drawing, strong tribal character, and wonderfully versatile dimensions make it a standout decorative piece as well as a collectible textile.
