Why Would You Stay at the Lock & Quay?
Why WOULDN'T you?!!!

Only a 7min drive or a 30min walk to Hill Dickinson Stadium!
To secure the pub’s future, we are delivering a Β£1 million refurbishment project, which will create guest accommodation above the pub and a new kitchen for food, helping make the venue more sustainable while continuing to grow Bootle as the destination the community has worked hard to create.

We’ve already secured Β£415,000...
Work starts to repair the roof very soon, but we need to raise an extra Β£30,000 for fixtures and fittings – this is where YOU can help!

Every donation - big or small - helps protect a place that belongs to the community and everything it delivers for Bootle.
Help us keep the doors open for the next 10 years and beyond. 🍻

Following the findings from a BBC national investigation into potentially harmful safe sleep messaging, Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust is reminding parents and carers about the Safe Sleep information on its website.

Parents and Carers can also get guidance about safe sleep for babies by contacting Sefton Health Visitors on 0151 247 6354.

Dr Rory McGill, who is Sefton’s Director of Public Health, said: β€œIt’s really important that families follow safe sleep advice from qualified professionals and there is plenty of information that can be accessed through our Heath Visiting Service and the Lullaby Trust.

"I would encourage parents and carers of very young infants to seek out that professional advice."

Online delivered level 3 Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools Diploma course (otherwise known as Teaching Assistant course) on 27th May.

The course is delivered online over Microsoft Teams as one tutor led session per week from 10am-2pm on Wednesdays alongside a work experience placement in a school (minimum of 1 day per week) and some self/home study.

As this course is fully remote and available nationally, we ask students to find their own work placement as the course is very much a practical one based on evidence and observations of TA tasks/duties etc so it is important that the student makes this relationship with a school local to them. They may even already have a relationship with that school if they have children or family who attend so this is always a good place to start.

The program runs over 24 weeks in total and includes a guaranteed job interview!

The course is open to anyone in the UK aged 19+ who has lived in the UK for 3 or more years with permanent residency who has access to a computer, laptop or tablet. The course is also open to all Ukraine nationals.

The course is funded by a small student/advanced learner loan but it should be free to our students as no contribution is due until once in employment as a TA and earning over Β£26,000 but as the average TA salary is around Β£23,000 or less, they would not meet this threshold.

There are not many level 3 courses on offer at the moment and this level 3 has become the qualification required by schools/employers plus combined with the work experience, makes course finishers genuinely extra employable when they attend the guaranteed job interview!

See attached for a breakdown of course content

Note: You do not need to have a level 1 or 2 or existing TA qualification to join this course.

If you work with anyone interested in doing the course or are interested in doing it yourself, please get in touch Daisy Harnick [email protected]
