Making Spaces

I’ve spent my whole Sunday visualising the year ahead and trying to put into words where Making Spaces is headed. We’re excited!! ☺️

“What’s a hot spot not?” 🔴

About one million years ago (end of 2024) I mentioned we were getting a new sofa. Not sure if anyone remembers as life moves fast and I’m pretty sure you guys will had other things to think about since then.

**one year later**

Just done a mini shoot of our living room’s new look. I present to you The 1977 sofa from . This is “package 10” from their modular range in their Caramel teddy boucle. We’ve had it since the end of January so about 7 months so far and it’s been a great addition to our family home. It’s so far survived Charlie’s unusual sitting style which resembles someone performing contact improvisation (google it), it’s been very pet friendly with no snags or pulls from Chanski, our cats little paws….. and it has supported me through my long bouts of working from home on the chaise.
The Bongo medium ottoman (great name) is also from King Living this time in Biscuit.
We also have a huge tray that sits on top so we’ve can opt for either a comfy footstool or functional coffee table.
Anyhoo - this isn’t an AD or sponsored post. I just thought you’d like to see. If I had one gripe, I’d say the main sofa section could be a little deeper. I’m a cross legged sofa sitter so like a deep sitting space (hence why I always call dibs on the chaise 💪)

Some of you might recognise the design from ’s beautiful Italian home where it looks stunning. Thought it would be useful for some of you to see how it sits in the living room of a traditional 3 bed semi too ☺️

The Collingham Project takes centre stage in this recent feature by Corston Architectural Detail. More on this to come!

(I can't tell you how uncomfortable I am sharing this. I'd say even more uncomfortable than I was being filmed - just focus on the interiors, guys!)

Designer Karen Knox of Making Spaces believes in creating a sense of space, bringing the outside in, and giving a building an organic feel. Rather than switching out colour schemes or soft furnishes, she suggests simply acknowledging what’s happening outside and bringing some seasonal flowers and plants indoors can create a more natural selection. Indeed, taking a natural approach with more permanent furnishings is also a process Knox advises. ‘With the architectural details here, we chose antique brass because it’s got a very natural feel, and it ages and changes over time just like we do, just like our houses do. For those reasons it felt more organic and more befitting of the space.’

Classic mid century moves. Something I always come back to. Timeless simplicity.

Still a winning combo.

Three years on and this room is still one of my absolute faves.
When clients trust you that’s when the magic happens ✨

Space and light. We all love that don’t we?
The newly configured, open plan kitchen and dining room at Parkview project now has that in spades ☀️
