With the diary completely full for the next two months please be advised that I cannot take on any new rug clients until the beginning of September.

Hoping this weather doesn’t break too early and we get a very long winter of rug wearing 🙏

Everyone who has contacted me recently is booked in and I will arrange collection dates during May and June asap.
The diary for collections will be open again in July due to such high volumes once again this year .

It’s that time of year again when rugs are coming in thick and fast !!!

Please be advised that a proof service entails your rug going into the machine again after it has been washed and Nikwax proof solution added into this second cycle.
I then fabsil spray as a top up when dry as a free of charge service along the spine and other potential weak areas.

If your rug requires a repair please can you identify it and leave the description on a note or message to me so I can go straight to it . This will help speed up my repair day so much as searching for small holes, tears etc is very time consuming .

Please be advised that due to ever increasing costs and my wish to not pass this onto my rug clients I cannot collect from one area for less than 5 rugs.

In the past I have nipped here and there ( half hour each way usually ! One hours worth of fuel and my time ) for one or two rugs as they urgently needed servicing . I apologise but this is no longer viable and collections for less than 5 rugs will have to wait until I am collecting larger numbers close by.

I understand I will lose a few clients due to this and I apologise for any inconvenience ,but it is not possible to survive without getting much stricter on my collection dates / areas.
It’s only taken me 15 years to do this !!!

I am currently full for collections until the second week in March and hoping for some sunshine for all soon 🌞🌞

With winter here and the season of some unavoidable rips, broken straps etc I hope this is helpful advice re repairs and clean rugs .

It is The RugWorks policy to only work on clean rugs , this is not just for hygiene reasons ( never great to start the day sitting at the sewing machine with a dirty rug on your lap ) but mainly because the dirt damages my very expensive industrial sewing machine .

The time taken to clean when the dirt goes into the sewing machine parts and to replace a blunt needle is costly and I cannot add that to the repair price. Plus the permanent damage it can cause to my very necessary tools.

It is a bit like expecting a professional clipping service to clip your horse without bathing it first or your farrier to use his rasp on muddy feet . Both situations cause damage to expensive equipment . Unfortunately be trying to save money and time ,it then costs and impacts the person providing the service.

I do not need to reproof a turnout everytime it is washed and definitely not to carry out a repair . The Nikwax wash solution does not strip the fibres of existing proof . I recommend proofing annually or more often if the rug is subjected to long wet weather conditions.

Small lightweights , travel , sheets etc can be washed at home if a repair is needed when possible , so long as no household washing detergents are used as this will damage the fibres of a turnout and it will no longer be waterproof.

On the very odd occasion I can repair without the sewing machine coming into contact with any dirt I will happily do a quick emergency repair so the horse is not rugless for long .

I hope this helps as we go into the winter months of rug weather and horses trying to destroy their clothes on a regular basis !!!
