This weekend the team were in and around the the Tweed learning about bank-side search safety and learning techniques for safer river crossings.
Defensive swimming was also practised to ensure the team have the appropriate skills should they inadvertently find themselves no longer on the river bank. Our throw bags also got a lot of use in simulated rescue situations.
Lots learned and no one ended up in Berwick. Even with dry suits it was cold in the water so be careful out there.
Thanks to our old friend Howie Crook at Water-Rescue.co.uk.
Congratulations to the holder of number 78 who won Thursday evening's lottery draw. Sorry for the delay in getting this information out. We are fortunate to have an off-road driving instructor within our team and this weekend a selection of team members were put through their paces in the finer points of piloting our vehicles into the hills. 4x4 access is a vital and integral part of our capability and it is essential that as many of the team as possible have advanced driving skills to ensure we can get the vehicles where we want to when we want to.
We were also able to come to the rescue of a sheep who had inadvertently found themselves the wrong way up. The sheep didn’t have a map or compass but was otherwise well equipped and we wish them well for a swift recovery.
Thank you to the Flintofts of Cocklawfoot farms for allowing us to use the tracks and trails.
Belated congratulations to the holder of Number 16 who won last Thursday evening's lottery draw. If you would like to get involved in the draw, please email [email protected]

Breaking the Laws
The team were out this weekend on a beautiful late summer’s day to provide medical cover for our friends at Blast Running and Scottish Veteran's Residences as they put on their inaugural Breaking the Laws run from North Berwick to Traprain Law and back with a stiff finish up and down North Berwick Law.
A cracking day for hundreds of participants. The team was on hand to provide some TLC at various points and thankfully nothing more than that. Well done everyone.
A great route, one for your diary next year.
Congratulations to the holder of Number 3 who won the 3rd September draw. If you would like to get involved inn our weekly draw, please email [email protected]

Sunday was a day of two halves - torrential rainfall followed by warmth and sunshine and our training involved two in-depth, complex medical scenarios. The team split into two groups, both strengthened by many of our Remote Rescue Medical Technicians and got to work on one scenario, followed by the other.
The scenarios had been put together by our Medical Officer to be complex, demanding and to really test the breadth and depth of our team’s medical capabilities. A testing day and a good performance all round.
Thanks to our casualties and visitors for putting up with some challenging weather.
Congratulations to the holder of Number 327 who won Thursday evening's lottery draw. If you are interested in taking part in our weekly draw please email: [email protected] for more information.
Congratulations to the holder of No.236 who was the winner of this week's lottery draw. If you would like to get involved in our draw, please email [email protected]
