A practice session on Lough Erne for Mark and Massimo ahead of the Championships. A beautiful evening for a row around the islands near Castle Archdale.

Getting the practice in for Monster the Loch (33km) today with a 25km row. The first 15km were handy enough, then the wind picked up turning Larne Lough into a washing machine. Made it back though!

A bit choppy this evening but, it's all about practice!

Coves first ever Beach Sprints today, after one practice at Browns Bay! Challenging conditions (and being a bit stoopid) led to the senior mixed double (okay.... Mark) going the wrong side of the first two buoys. 1 minute penalty and.... out.

Mark was doing well in the mens single until his blade got stuck in a wave and another wave flipped the boat on his head (see photo). But, he was the only rower (up until we left at 3pm), with about a dozen falling victim to waves, who capsized, righted the boat, got back in and finished the course. The crowd cheered... but he was out.

A good time had. Many thanks to Izzy and Adam from Cairndhu for being our boat handlers. Thanks to LPRC for organising a great weekend.

A fun morning of practice for the forthcoming beach sprint crews, with a paddle boarder rescue thrown into the mix. Nice to see both Olderfleet and Whitehead RC making an appearance in the bay!

A tough weekend's racing with several collisions knocking boats out of medal contention, and a seat derail.

Well done to the mixed 50s crew, coxed by Izzy Oakley from Cairndhu Rowing Club , getting bronze despite crossing the line with three-and-a-half rowers.

Thanks to Olderfleet Rowing Club for holding the event and running it so well. Thanks also to Katrina McCormick for coxing the composite mixed 40s crew with Cairndhu's Colleen Gardner .

Women's quad out training today. Very cold out of the sun.

Another river rower has seen the light! Loved her doubles session this afternoon. Confused how we rowed upwind to Larne and upwind back again? The wind spun around 180 degrees in about 5 minutes.

Had to stop for this photo opportunity!
