Hello everyone ๐, itโs been a while.
In December 2022, a few of us came up with the idea to start this Huntly Diversity and Language group to support people from diverse backgrounds in Huntly.
It has been a long journey and a big learning curve. This page shows the moments we shared, the things we celebrated, and what we achieved together as we built friendships and community.
In July, we supported our friend Mandy Miu when she opened the Huntly silk painting studio. In September, we supported our Ukrainian friend Anastasia as she opened her nail business. It has been amazing to see the support and friendships that have grown from our small group.
At the end of September, we enjoyed a lovely afternoon of Pilates, meditation, and high tea to celebrate our small but growing community funded by the Big Lottery Community Fund through Mongol Identity.org.
As the end of 2025 approaches, I feel itโs time to let you know that Iโm hanging up my volunteer role because my circumstances have changed.
I want to thank everyone for your support, friendship, and kindness along the way. It has meant so much.
This is goodbye from me for now. But I believe our little community will continue to grow here in Huntly, and we will see what the future brings.
Happy New Year 2026 to you all,
With love ๐

Food Chain, our monthly community-led cookery workshop is coming up on Monday 31 March, 6-8pm in Square Deal community hub.
Celebrating the diversity of cultures within our local communities, Food Chain is a relaxed, fun and friendly event. Each time, a member of our local community here in Huntly shares a recipe that means something to them and reminds them of 'home'. We cook the recipe together, then enjoy eating it!
For this monthโs Food Chain, Paulina will be sharing her recipe for a Mexican staple dish called tacos dorados de picadillo. The dish consists of fried and rolled corn tortillas โ the โtacos doradosโ, stuffed with beef or lentil โpicadilloโ. The name picadillo comes from the Spanish word, โpicarโ meaning to mince, because all the ingredients are chopped finely. Paulina will show us her version of picadillo, which includes vegetables with either beef mince or lentils. The tacos are topped with lettuce and soured cream / vegan soured cream.
If you'd like to come along and learn how to make tacos dorados de picadillo, get in touch to book your spot. Contact Jenny on [email protected] / 01466 794494

โจ Yesterday, our friends Julia and Maria cooked Ukrainian Vinaigrette at the Deveron Project Food Chain Workshop. It was a poignant day, as it marked the 3rd anniversary of the war in Ukraine. ๐บ๐ฆ
Food chain workshops are a beautiful way to bring people together, as we believe that food is a universal language that connects us and allows us to learn from one another. ๐
Thank you to everyone who joined us, your presence made the evening welcoming and meaningful. ๐
We look forward to seeing you all again soon.
