Proposed outdoor padel courts in Garforth. Planning application in progress🎾

PLANNING UPDATE
We wanted to share a quick update regarding our proposed padel development at Garforth Garden Centre.
Leeds City Council has now issued its decision on our current planning application and, unfortunately, the application has been refused.
The reasons given relate to Green Belt considerations associated with the wider development, alongside the need for further supporting information regarding trees and noise.
A number of these technical assessments were already in progress, including the Arboricultural Impact Assessment, Noise Impact Assessment and lighting work, and we will now bring all of that information together alongside any necessary revisions to the plans.
Our intention is to address the points raised in full and submit a revised planning application.
While the decision is disappointing, the feedback gives us a much clearer understanding of what needs to be demonstrated within the next submission, and we remain fully committed to progressing the project.
We know there has been a lot of interest and support for bringing padel to Garforth, so we wanted to be open about where things currently stand.
We’ll continue to share updates as the project progresses.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the plans so far.

🎾 A quick Garforth Padel update.
We’ve had quite a few messages asking how things are progressing, so we wanted to give you a quick update.
The good news is everything is still moving forward 🙌
It’s just taking a little longer than we originally hoped as we continue working through the planning process and the various surveys and reports required.
There’s still plenty happening behind the scenes and we’re working hard to keep things progressing as quickly as possible.
We really appreciate everyone who has messaged, followed the page and supported the project so far.
Hopefully we’ll have some more positive news to share soon! 🎾
Thanks for sticking with us.

🎾 Quick question for padel players…
Some clubs offer 60-minute slots, others 90 minutes, and plenty of people double up for two hours.
If you had the choice, what would your ideal booking length be?
⏱️ 60 minutes
⏱️ 90 minutes
⏱️ 120 minutes
Let us know why in the comments 👇

A little update on the padel project… 👇
It’s been a while since our last update, so I thought I’d let everyone know where we’re up to.
The planning application has now successfully made it through the consultation phase, which is a really positive milestone.
We’re now at the stage where we’re waiting for Leeds City Council to review the application and make their decision.
Like a lot of these projects, there’s plenty of waiting involved, and whilst it might seem quiet from the outside, there’s still plenty happening behind the scenes as we prepare for the next steps.
I know a lot of you have been asking when the courts will be opening, and we genuinely appreciate the support and excitement around the project. We’re just as eager to get things moving.
As soon as we have any news, good or bad, I’ll make sure to share it with everyone.
Thanks again to everyone who’s followed the journey so far.
Hopefully the next update will be an even bigger one! 🎾

One of the reasons padel is the fastest-growing sport in the world is simple…
Almost anyone can play it. It has no age limit! 🌍🎾
You don’t need years of coaching.
You don’t need elite fitness.
You don’t need to have played racket sports before.
Whether you’re 18 or 80, padel is easy to pick up, social from day one, and just competitive enough to keep you coming back for more.
The doubles format, smaller court and use of the glass mean rallies last longer and beginners can enjoy a good game much quicker than many other sports.
The growth has been incredible.
Over 860,000 people played padel in Britain during 2025, with millions more interested in giving it a go.
Globally, there are now more than 35 million players and the sport continues to expand across new countries every year.
But statistics only tell part of the story.
What we see every day is people of all ages enjoying sport, meeting new people, getting active and having a laugh.
That’s what makes padel special.
A sport you can genuinely play for life.
We’re hoping to bring this to Garforth, if we can get planning permission through.
Who would you bring for a game? 👇

If Garforth Padel gets approved, what’s the ONE thing you’d want us to offer from day one?
🎾 Beginner coaching?
🎾 Kids coaching?
🎾 Social events?
🎾 Leagues and ladders?
🎾 Tournaments?
🎾 Membership options?
🎾 Corporate events?
Or something else entirely?
We’re keen to build something the local community genuinely wants to be part of, so we’d love to hear your thoughts.

A new sport. A new community. Right here in Garforth.
Padel is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and its popularity across the UK continues to soar. More people than ever are discovering a sport that is fun, social and suitable for all ages and abilities.
We’re hoping to bring four brand new padel courts to Garforth, creating a fantastic new facility for local residents, families and sports enthusiasts.
The proposed courts would provide a new way for people to stay active, meet friends and enjoy outdoor sport right here in the local community.
If you’d like to see padel come to Garforth, we’d love to hear from you.
Have you played padel before? Let us know in the comments 👇
And if you think Garforth would benefit from having its own padel courts, your support and feedback would be hugely appreciated as we move through the planning process.

What could padel in Garforth look like? 👀🎾
This is an AI-generated visual created to help bring our ideas to life. It is not the final design or a planning drawing, but rather a representation of the vision we have for the site.
The aim is to create a high-quality outdoor padel venue that sits naturally within its surroundings, making the most of the existing landscape while working alongside the fantastic facilities already available at Garforth Garden Centre, including the café, parking and visitor amenities.
By building on what’s already there, we hope to create a great place for people to play, compete, socialise and enjoy everything the site has to offer.
We’re still at the early stages of the process, but it’s exciting to start sharing the journey.
Would you play here? 🎾
