An artist who has rented a studio space in Forres for three years, has bought the building with her brother to develop it as a 'positive and inspiring space for artists and creatives'
Sasha and Jools McMahon have recently bought Orchard Road Studios on Orchard Road, where Sasha has rented space for the past three years.
She said: “There’s so much talent locally, and we’re excited to be part of helping that flourish. Orchard Road Studios is already a lovely wee community, and we’re thrilled to build on that even more.”
Together, they hope to build on the studio’s reputation as a welcoming creative hub in Forres, supporting local makers, encouraging collaboration and helping the local art scene continue to grow.

The vibrant yellow of rapeseed can be seen all over the area at the moment bringing a dash of colour to the landscape. This one between Forres and Brodie is no exception.
Can you spot Brodie Castle in the distance, or even the Sutors of Cromarty and the Nigg fabrication yard?

Our popular calendars will be back this year... with a new community slant.
Since 2021, we have printed and sold thousands of calendars across the world promoting the beauty of the Forres area.
People from as far as Australia have bought them to remind them of the place they grew up in, or their visit to the town.
This year, we're inviting YOU the public to submit your best photos for our 2027 calendar. We've previously used pictures from our own stock, but we've seen some excellent shots from our readers.
We're looking for views within the IV36 postcode area from all seasons.
As a social enterprise run by volunteers, all the profits from the calendars go back into to promoting the area, local businesses and events through Forres Local, Visit Forres and Moray Events.
Do you have any pictures you'd like to submit? Post them here and we'll be in touch. Contributors will be given calendars and a credit.
If you'd rather not post them here, send your pics to [email protected]. And, if you're not sure it's good enough, send it anyway!
Exclusive interview – Gregor Fisher asks himself 'Why am I not living in Forres?' The iconic comedian was filming here for the second series of Only Child with Greg McHugh.
We asked him what he thought of the town, what were his highlights and will he be coming back for a third series.
He also talks about getting his mealie pudding from a local butcher, the balmy weather he had while filming and hunting for a 'wee hoose' ;-)
Only Child returns on Monday 4th May on BBC Scotland and BBC iPlayer, and Wednesday 6th May on BBC One at 9:30pm.

When Forres-born Wendy Davidson had a bad experience with a travel agent, she grabbed a pina colada and said 'I can do that'. And she did. Now she is the 'local travel girl' who not only provides excellent customer service, she is backed by a well-known Scottish holiday brand, and travels the world herself – all in the name of 'customer research' ;-)
And it's her own first-hand knowledge of travelling the world that has made her such a dab-hand with destinations, and she prides herself on being friendly, helpful and all-inclusive! – she doesn't charge any extra for finding you the best deal.
We spoke to Wendy to ask her what makes her a better alternative than a high street travel agent, where she goes for 'research' and her top tips for travelling abroad.
