💷 COULD YOUR BAND RECORD A SINGLE FOR £40–£60 EACH?

Potentially, yes.

A well-rehearsed five-piece splitting a £200–£300 recording session works out at roughly £40–£60 per member.

That’s less than a bad night out and you have something amazing to show for it at the end.
Obviously every project is different.

So rather than trying to work out studio rates, hours and recording methods yourself:

Send us the song.

Tell us what you’re hoping to achieve and we’ll tell you what we think is realistic.

🎸 HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN YOUR BAND IS READY TO RECORD?
You probably don’t.

And that’s fine.

You don’t need to book a studio day just to find out.

Send us a rehearsal recording or rough demo first.

We’ll listen and give you a realistic idea of whether you’re ready, what we’d work on before recording and how we’d approach the session.

No hard sell. We’d rather you came into the studio ready.

Anyone for cocktails? One part hydrogen peroxide, one part buttons from the Soundtracs analogue mixer and one part Devon sunshine. Great way of getting 35 years worth of staining and discolouration off these buttons before they go back on the desk…..and one step closer to hybrid recording & mixing!!!! 🎤🎸🎵🎶🍾

GOT A SONG SITTING ON YOUR PHONE?

You’ve written it.

The band’s rehearsed it.

Maybe you’ve even made a rough demo.

But you’ve never actually recorded it properly.

Send it to us.

It doesn’t have to sound good. A phone recording from rehearsal is absolutely fine.

We’ll listen and tell you how we’d approach turning it into a finished release — and roughly what it would cost.

And you never know where releasing your music can take you.

✔️Thousands of streams?
✔️BBC Introducing?
✔️Beautiful Days Festival?
✔️Dublin Castle in Camden?
✔️Playing alongside your heroes?

All of these things, and more, are possible. But not if your song stays on your phone.

The world’s waiting to hear you…. ✔️🍾🎶🎤🎸🎵🙏

Looking forward to getting Rameagle into the studio next week to start guitar overdubs, once the first night of the tour is done on Monday. Can’t wait to see the awesome Zealots live on the first night of the tour with Rameagle at Bomba. Come on down for some psych rock and heavy riffs!!! 🎸🎵🤟🙏🍾🎤

🏆 WIN BATTLE OF THE BANDS. RECORD YOUR DEBUT SINGLE.
That’s exactly what PARIAH did.
After winning the 2026 Devon Secondary Schools Battle of the Bands, they came to The Source Studio to make their first record.
And they didn’t exactly make life easy for themselves…
🔥 Complex, changing time signatures
🎸 An ambitious, constantly shifting arrangement
🎤 23 separate layers of vocal harmonies
All built into one seriously sophisticated debut single — recorded in a day.
Young bands don’t have to start small.
Sometimes you just need to give them the time, space and opportunity to show what they can do.

The big desk clean up continues….have now stripped all the pot and fader caps and buttons off no 1, ready for a good clean to get 40 years’ dirt off 🎁🤟🎸🎶👀🎤

So, after last nights breakdown shenanigans, I picked up the 2nd Soundtracs Topaz vintage analogue mixing desk won on an eBay auction today.

As we have some issues to fix with the 1st desk, we hoped to use one of them for spares and one for recording and mixing at the Source Studio.

The 2nd one fired up first time and we got the Vu meter lights and so/ mute buttons working straight away.

Got a couple of dead channels and some crackly pots, so looks like no 2 for the Source Studio and no 1 for parts, as there is an electrical fault on no 1.

Next step is cleaning 35 years worth of dirt, swapping rusty screws from no 2 with not rusty screws from no1. Made a start, but it’s slow progress with a toothbrush!!!

Once that’s done, all of the pot tops and fader tops need some Ultrasonic Cleaner to get the last of the dirt off.

At the same time, the 2 dead faders need to be fixed along with the crackly pots.

Then, hopefully, we can install into the studio and start having some fun with this amazing Vintage Analogue Desk. 🤟🥺🎶🎸👀🎤🎁

Was going to post tonight but broke down in a live lane on Halton Hill instead, which was nice 🎁🙏🎸🥺🎤
