Winkleigh farm is a small family farm, recently 9th generation. We farm the beautiful Devon Red Ruby cattle. Beef available. We offer Camping too.

The farm is going through considerable renovation; keeping its charm remaining true to its roots.

The major oak Robin Hood tree has died, it has stood for 1,200 years ! We are fortunate to have quite a few of the mighty oak trees at Winkleigh Farm. We are unsure of the age but definitely over 100 years old ๐Ÿ˜€ they make perfect wildlife havens and support the greatest number of species ๐Ÿ‘ and all from a small acorn ! This one pictured is small in comparison to others we have, but we love the gnarly trunk

As farmers we care for the trees, flowers and fauna all of which support their own little eco systems

Youโ€™ll notice we have an addition to our usual cutting list, this time round we have shin of beef, we have one cut with the bone in and one without. Shin is recommended to be slow cooked and is ideal for pies, stews, ragu and slow cooked chilli ๐Ÿ˜‹ why not give it a try ๐Ÿ‘ message or email [email protected] to arrange collection

Only 2 days to go ! With increasing stories reporting imported beef being sold as British beef, beef with potato starch added in our supermarkets and the great red tractor and union jack no longer guarantees of British reared produce itโ€™s time to support your local butchers and farms, why not buy direct from our small beef farm ? We guarantee great tasting quality beef, reared on the farm in Woodbury Salterton East Devon. We have a small herd of the wonderful Ruby Red Devon Cattle, a heritage breed that has been slow grown in a stress free environment, they are a native breed that graze on meadow grass all year giving us tender flavoursome beef, our fresh beef will be available from 1pm on 17th June, pre orders currently being taken, [email protected] or send us a message.

We would love to see you in person so feel free to drop into the farm on Wednesday after 1pm ๐Ÿ˜€ all beef not sold on the day will go straight to the freezer, so donโ€™t worry if you canโ€™t make the date ๐Ÿ‘

The first Robins Pincushion that weโ€™ve seen this year in our hedgerows, typically it grows on dog roses and oak trees. The female gall wasp lays its eggs on the plant/branch and the larvae feeds on the plant within the gall ( completely harmless) fascinating and beautiful ๐Ÿ˜€

First time this year that weโ€™ve heard the gold crest ๐Ÿ˜€ weโ€™ve previously seen a breeding pair in the corner of the field near the brook, weโ€™re really spoilt for the variety of birds we see or hear at the farm, with the gold crest being such elusive tiny birds weโ€™re thrilled that weโ€™ve heard them today ๐Ÿ˜€
