The Dame Show – A Show in Development is a bold, funny and fiercely human new theatre piece presented by
Yet To Be, Stowaway Theatre and Small Acorn Productions. Disguised as a classic TV game show, the piece
uses bingo, blind dates, musical numbers and outrageous props to explore the reality behind the statistics - and the
lived experiences of women navigating a healthcare system not designed with them in mind.
Instead of competing for cuddly toys, contestants (and audiences) are invited to question why research into women’s
health has lagged behind for decades, how medical myths continue to shape diagnosis and care, and what happens
when women take back the mic.
“We grew up watching game shows where women were prizes, punchlines, or silent supporters,” say the
makers. “This time, women are running the show - and telling the truth.”
Built from real voices, not assumptions: The Dame Show is currently in development and has been devised
directly from stories shared by South West women during a workshop led by the creative team titled HER-MOAN-ALL
HEALTH: Story Sharing & Discussion. These sessions invited participants to talk candidly about their medical
experiences - moments of being dismissed, misdiagnosed, not believed, or simply not studied - alongside the humour,
resilience and solidarity that emerge when those stories are finally heard.
