Wide Awake Devon aims to develop the arts ecology in Devon by creating access points and support net Wide Awake Devon’s Declaration
1.

Relationships
We promise to provide a regular space for members of the live performance community at any stage of development , to come to together and develop face to face relationships, to build an awareness of the diversity of work in the county and to ultimately engage in collaboration and partnership within live performance and across art forms. We will strive to have an extensive awareness

of the practitioners and projects happening in the county so that we are able to signpost and broker relationships between artists, arts organisations and venues.
2. The Importance of Discussion
We promise to initiate discussion that asks vital questions relating to the arts ecology in which we are working, in order to continually challenge and debate methods, work and ambitions to ensure best possible practice. We promise to provide the time to listen to your ideas and through critical discussion give your idea the potential to have life.
3. Taking Action
We promise to be proactive in continually diagnosing and recognising the needs of the live performance community, in practice, producing and promoting. Through diagnosis, we will react to this need using the extent of our resources, and if need be work with other bodies to deliver a solution.
4. Devon-wide
We promise to strive to create a better connected area of activity, to inform collaboration and awareness across the geography. We will endeavour to explore new ideas of how to keep Devon connected on and offline.
5. The Student Gap
We promise to provide space for integration between the live performance community and the student community. We promise to ensure Devon is an attractive place for young artists and graduates to continue to learn and develop their practice within a supportive environment. An Ambition for Live Performance in Devon. Our ambition is for Devon to become a healthy bloodstream for extraordinary live performance which can spark a propeller for local work in a national context, so that work made in Devon is celebrated both within the county and across the UK. Our opinion is that Devon needs to create a greater capacity for support networks and resources in order to nurture ideas with promising potential that is then able develop into high quality work. Local artists will start to proudly acknowledge their roots, building the reputation for extraordinary artistic practice in Devon and at the same time captivate artists from around the country who want to perform here and (if only temporarily) be part of that energy. Building a stronger live performance community can ensure we are able to house this ambition and take on the challenge.
