In the lawless borderlands of a crumbling kingdom, five fugitives are offered a deal to earn a pardon for their supposed crimes. For four of them, it’s salvation. For one, it’s the final, insulting gambit of a corrupt system and he walks away. The collective begin to break apart.

In the wake of the schism, another of thier own is killed due to a betrayal. Grief curdles into suspicion. The vanished brother is blamed, his rare psychic gifts now framed as a path to a more terrifying evolution. Panic spreads as a spectral horror, a life-draining wraith begins stalking the countryside. The scattered fugitives, now turned hunters, are certain they know its origin.

But in this grimdark fantasy of shattered loyalty, the truth is a crime in need of resolution. The evidence is staged. The creature is not what it seems to be, a phantom puppeteered by a master of misdirection. The real predator isn’t fleeing; he’s puppeteering the investigation. He’s the one who called the hunters together, who guides their outrage, who feeds them clues that point in the wrong direction.

The origin story of a dark creature becomes a criminal masterclass. The murder, the sightings, the spectral attacks—all are elements of a perfect construction to a diabolical plan, designed to steal ultimate power and conceal a far more intimate and chilling hunger.
