Banned Books Week 2026 is October 4th-10th

Here are our staff's favourite banned books...

Anna has chosen All Quiet On The Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque

On 10 May 1933, at the initiative of the N**i propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels, Remarque's writing was publicly declared as "unpatriotic" and was banned in Germany. Copies were removed from all libraries and restricted from being sold or published anywhere in the country.

Banned Books Week 2026 is October 4th-10th

Here are our staff's favourite banned books...

Lorenzo has chosen Giovanni Boccaccio's Tales from The Decameron

First banned in 1559 by the Vatican. Also in Australia in 1923 then permitted 1936 only to be banned again from 1938 to 1973.

" Because it heavily satirizes corrupt priests, lustful monks and pious hypocrisy. 20th century Australian custom officials viewed it as being offensive to public morals and religious standards."

We would like to give a huge thank you to everyone who donated baking and/or came along to our Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning last Saturday! The day was a huge success and we couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out.

An additional thank you to our colleague who worked tirelessly to organise the escape room, which was extremely popular. And also a big thank you to our Macmillan volunteer who came to support us during the day!

Massive thank you again,

Oxgangs team
