This Bachata combination challenged our students when we worked on it in class this week.
So Wellington and Eleanna broke it down, slowed it down and counted it through. Once the timing became clear, the movement started making sense and everything began to connect.
That is why we use counts. Not to make the dancing mechanical, but to give students a clear structure they can understand, practise and eventually make their own.
The music shows you the finished result. This is part of the work that gets you there.

We rotate partners during our Salsa and Bachata classes, so you will always have people to learn and practise with. Plenty of students join on their own, and everyone in the course begins together as a group of complete beginners.

This one challenged the group at first. There were several details to coordinate, and it did not come together immediately.
So we slowed it down, separated the different parts and built it back up step by step. Once everyone understood what was happening and had time to practise, it started to click. By the end, they had it.
That is what learning looks like at Latin Roots. You do not need to understand everything immediately. You need clear teaching, time to practise and the willingness to keep going.

One of the biggest worries before your first class is not the dancing. It is walking through the door without knowing anyone.
Many people join our beginner courses on their own. You will be learning with other complete beginners, rotating partners in class and getting to know people over the four weeks.
You may arrive alone, but you will not feel like the only new person in the room.

In class, we go beyond memorising the order of the movements. We work on timing, connection, body movement, leading and following, and how everything fits the music.

At Latin Roots, ๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐บ๐. That means our classes are connected. What you learn in one Stage prepares you for the next, while the fundamentals are revisited and developed with greater depth as you progress.
We donโt measure a good class by how many moves we can fit into it. We focus on whether our students understand the movement, connection and technique well enough to use what they learn with different partners.
