🎉 10 Years of GLE! 🥨

Wow – that went fast! This year marks German Lessons Edinburgh’s 10th anniversary… and I almost forgot! 😬
Running a business and raising young children – all while living abroad without family nearby – is a lot. But I’m so glad I remembered, because this milestone means a lot to me. ❤️

It all began in 2015. I had just stopped travelling with Cirque du Soleil and was ready to settle down. My love for cultures, people, and languages inspired me to start GLE. What began in my living room soon grew into working with German renewable energy companies, the MoD, and offering classes for bilingual children.

I discovered my passion for adult group classes – creating a relaxed, trusting, and fun learning environment. I found a great space, hired more teachers… and then two big things happened:
👶 My first child was born
🌍 The pandemic hit

We moved online, but I missed the connection and opportunities that in-person teaching brings. When we finally returned to classrooms, it wasn’t long before baby number two arrived – and now I’m a proud mum of two wonderful children.

My children also inspired me to educate myself further and train as a coach for multilingual families. Now I can support families from all language backgrounds in passing on their language – work that is deeply rewarding and makes a real difference for the next generation.

Today, I’m thrilled to be back in person, our team is growing again, and we have so many exciting things planned for the future.

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey – students, colleagues, friends. You’ve made the last 10 years unforgettable.

We were truly blessed with a rare Scottish summer evening — the sun joined us in the peaceful garden of the church, making it the perfect setting for thoughtful discussion, laughter, and plenty of snacks.

Wir hatten das Glück eines seltenen schottischen Sommerabends – die Sonne begleitete uns im idyllischen Garten der Kirche und schuf die perfekte Atmosphäre für anregende Gespräche, Lachen und leckere Snacks.

It adds emotion, surprise, or emphasis to your sentence, like a native speaker’s secret weapon. 🇩🇪✨

You’ll hear it everywhere in real life — but almost never see it in textbooks. That ends here. 🎓💜
