An exhibition running during the day in the set of our new play, Platformed. Come along for free to learn about less well known Edinburgh characters such as Dora Noyce and Monkey Mary alongside well-known figures like Alexander Graham Bell and Mary Moriarty. Add your own characters and let us know how you think Edinburgh should be represented.

The stage is set. The statues are in the wearhouse. And at opening night TONIGHT everything will be revealed!!

The warehouse is normally a quiet place where the statues of Edinburgh can rest. But the arrival of a new tenant and some shady characters means that The Great Lafayette, Sherlock Holmes, Cowboy Joe and others can no longer stay in their sculpted poses. They must confront the question of who best represents Edinburgh!

"Being on a statue is certainly not me, I’d weather badly I think."
🌟 Meet Alexander Graham Bell, one of the characters featured in Active Inquiry's Characters of Edinburgh festival.
🌟 Born in Edinburgh in 1847, he was the inventor of the telephone.
🌟 Both his mother and wife were deaf, which influenced his life’s work on hearing loss and speech. He thought the telephone was a distraction, he wouldn’t have one in his study! ☎️
🌟 You can find out more about him, as well as a host of other Edinburgh "characters" in Characters of Edinburgh which is on at the Drill Hall later this week.
