Transfermagic - Edinburgh's premium legacy media digitisation service.

Back in 2012, when Transfermagic first opened for business, we occupied a small back office on the first floor of the Beaverhall Art Studios. There was no remote buzzer to open the main door so we would have to take a phone call and sprint down the stairs to manually let a client in.

As the company grew, we relocated to a larger, corner office on the second floor, which had a buzzer and a lift, thankfully! There were lovely neighbours and a real sense of community amongst the many businesses and artists that called the building home.

Whilst Transfermagic moved to it's current location on Anderson Place in the summer of 2020, we've kept in contact and worked with those artists and businesses that remained, so it's really sad to see the building - the old Duncans chocolate factory - being demolished to make way for flats and small retail shops. Whilst it was leaking rainwater even when we were there and lined full of asbestos, the building has had a huge impact on Edinburgh life and culture for the 50odd years it's stood.

This years edition features work by teenagers from one of the local high schools, many of whom read their work at the launch event at the @portoleith last year! Available for a suggested donation of £5 but don't delay, when they're gone, they're gone! Also in stock is the FREE local magazine The Leither! Featuring up to date local news & events, resturant reviews, lifestyle tips, satire & culture. A new issue comes out every 6 or 7 weeks so be sure to visit frequenty for the lasted print. +++NEW BIKE PARKING+++ It's been a bugbear of mine for a while over the lack of bicycle parking here on Anderson Place. A number of customers already visit the shop on bike and the only place to secure a bike was to the lamp post right outside, which would partially block the door. It wouldn't just be @Transfermagic0131 customers that would attach bikes there, other visitors to the street would do too. As a keen cyclist myself and a supporter of many of the recent walker and wheeler improvment schemes in the area, I've made it a small side-mission to change the situation. I've emailed the @edinburgh_council Active Travel team a couple of times and I'm very very happy to say they have listened amd today these shiny new bike parking racks have been installed!!! So whether you are visiting Transfermagic ot @caobamexicanshop or any other businesses here on Anderson Place you can do so ON YOUR BIKE and safely and securely park up right outside!
