Drum RDA

Well if today wasn’t what RDA is all about then I don’t know what is!

Today we headed off to the Edinburgh and Borders Regional Qualifiers with 3 ponies, 12 riders and a team of coaches and helpers and safe to say we SMASHED it! 🥳

Ernie and Ben are looking at the best accommodation for a trip to the National Championships at Hartpury in July!

Results went as follows

Class 4 (J) - Euan and Ben - 1st

Class 20 (J) - Brodie and Ernie - 1st and Q

Class 32 (J) - Sophie and Ben - 1st and Q
Ellen and Ernie - 2nd and Q

Class 33 (S) - Pola and Ben - 1st and Q

Class 33 (J) - Molly and Ben - 1st and Q

Class 34 (J) - Dakota and Ernie - 1st

Class 101 (J) - Neve and Ben - 1st, Q and trophy for highest Countryside Challenge Score
Lexi and Ernie - 2nd and Q
Kayla and Ernie - 3rd
Eva and Alfie - 4th
Ethan and Alfie - 6th

We are all so very very proud of all of our riders and their performances today - we could not have asked for any more from any of you!

Our ponies were just amazing today doing everything and anything that was asked of them - a few other groups were ready to take them home 👀🦄

A thank you to our coaches and volunteers who have worked tirelessly over the last few weeks doing all the behind the scenes prepping and extra practices to make all this possible 😇

And finally a huge shout out to Helen and Olivia for transporting Ben for us. And a thank you to Bernard Hunter for the loan of their hire trailer for taking Ernie and Alfie. The boys definitely travelled in style today!

Pre-entries close on Wednesday 3rd June and at only £8 per class you won’t find much cheaper anywhere else!

We will be checking passports again due to the ongoing equine flu outbreak so please make sure all vaccinations are up to date and passports are ready to be checked upon arrival

We are excited to welcome Darren Miller as our new Centre Manager this week here at the Drum - he has certainly brought the sunshine !☀️

Darren has been involved with horses from a young age and brings a wealth of experience from his long standing involvement with British Riding Clubs and owning his own horses - isn’t Rosco gorgeous?
His knowledge, leadership, and passion for equestrian wellbeing will make him a fantastic addition to the Drum team.
Darren is excited to play an active role in helping our lovely Drum RDA continue to deliver high quality equine assisted therapy so please join us in giving Darren a very warm Drum welcome 😁

Gilmerton Show 2026

Only a couple of weeks to go until the Gilmerton Show with pre-entries closing on Wednesday 3rd June! There are still a few judges to be confirmed but will be updated as soon as we have them.

Lots of different classes for every shape and size of horse and pony!

Pre entries at only £8 per class and £12 for Side Saddle Association Area 9 classes but we will be taking entries on the day as well!
