STEPBACK TONIGHT!!!
FRIDAY 27th JUNE
RESIDENTS SPECIAL - TECHNO ONLY
//
Introducing our residents
//
DJ Keyte aka Richard Keyte aka The Exit

What would Stepback be without the glue that brings it all together!
An inigma at times but without doubt one of the best techno DJs of all time to push the scene in Edinburgh
DJ Keyte founded Stepback in 2008 alongside Wolfjazz shortly after also joining Jackhammer club as resident and promoter.
//
Influenced by Westbam, Billy Nasty, Dave Clarke and Richie Hawtin , and through a dedication to vinyl led to an expansive musical collection and knowledge of dance music but also of technical ability and skills on the decks
//
Not to mention his tour dates with The Prodigy in 2006 as requested by Keith Flint (RIP) ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ playing to sell out audiences including here in Edinburgh at The Corn Exchange
//
DJ Keytes dedication to the Edinburgh scene may be understated but make no mistake - Jackhammer and Stepback donโ€™t exist without his steadfast mindset to make clubs happen - not just for music heads but for everyone who enjoys a dance and great time regardless !
//
Highlights include supporting the likes of Jeff Mills (twice), Octave One, Joey Beltram, and DJ Funk (RIP) and DJ Deeon (RIP) plus bringing Hud Mo, Alex Smoke and LVis 1990 to Stepback in the early days
//
In 2016 in an effort to push further the Stepback music ethos he started Stepback Records releasing the first Thinktank music in 15 years! Subsequently releasing music across all genres from User Engine, Polytunnel and Glasgows Bash Man .man___

STEPBACK
FRIDAY 27th JUNE
RESIDENTS SPECIAL - TECHNO ONLY
//
Introducing our DJs

HAMMAY aka Graeme Ramsay aka The Philosopher

Hammayโ€™s musical influence on Stepback is perhaps greater than any other.
Hammay met DJ Keyte at school in Glenrothes Fife in the 90s (yes weโ€™re Fifers) when he was listening to Hardcore/Rave mixtapes before moving onto Jungle and Breakbeat from originators such as DJ Rap, DJ SY, DJ Hype Doc Scott and Fabio and Grooverider
//
So far ahead of the curve and trends from an early age it was Hammay that first had a 12โ€ copy of Daft Punks debut single on Soma Recordings
Which of course blew our minds !!
//
These days he would be considered a โ€˜Selectorโ€™ - a musical inspiration and someone who never follows but leads when it comes to dance music in particular - always finding a track that others would pass by
//
His skills on the decks have led to Hammay sharing the stage with Dave Clarke , Ben Sims , Kevin Saundersin and Robert Hood amongst others
//
Bringing us right upto date you can catch him on Stepback Records Radio monthly on EHFM where he continues to expand both his own and the listeners perceptions of club music - anything from Hip Hop and House alll the way through to 160 and new Jungle cutz
//
Equally comfortable when it come to production be sure to check out his Synthagram Project alias - Hammay is the real deal - a musical font of knowledge and a huge slice of authenticity make him a shining light in the Edinburgh music scene.

Favourite Techno DJ - Dave Clarke
Fave techno track - DVS1 Black Russian
Fave Jackhammer ever- DJ Funk and Gary Beck at The Caves
